Theme: Women in Science
The Pgm details gives a Bird's-eye view of the Research Focus in
India spanning the entire spectrum of Science. There are Several
Focus Areas mentioned - Climate Change and Food Security etc.
But, the strange thing - I could not find one participant from IISc in
Mathematical Sciences, Physical Sciences or Biological Sciences....Not
even in Engineering and ICT - In addition, there is sparse
representation from the SOUTH - I could only find Prof Tapa Kundu of
JNCASR in Biological Sciences!
It seems that as a policy, more representation is given to Local
Engineering Colleges of different States!
But, under-represented/NOT represented are:
Management Sciences(IIMs etc)
Economic Sciences(ICRIER, NIPFP, IGDR etc)
Good that Policy makers(IAS) are on the SPEAKERS LIST - They can get
to interact with the AREA SPECIALISTS!
Mr M N Vidya Shankar IAS, Principal Secretary, Dept of e-Governance,
Govt of Karnataka is listed for a Public Lecture - Karnataka has made
great strides in "Application of IT in Public Administration"
