Mumbai: Under pressure from the Shiv
Sena and the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, the Central Bank of India (CBI)
has decided not to interview candidates from outside Maharashtra for clerical
posts.Several candidates from other states,in the city for the interviews, have
been asked to wait till the bank gets directions from the Institute of
Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) on how to resolve the issue. The last
time the MNS and the Shiv Sena used the sons-of -the soil platform was
in 2008,when they disrupted exams held by the Railway Recruitment Board.Interviews
for the CBIs posts are being held at Mumbai,Pune and Nagpur. The banks decision
came after delegations of the two Senas visited its office at Fort and
asked the officials to give preference to local candidates.Anil Kumar Khadke, general
manager of the Mumbai zone, said,There are not more than 25% candidates
from outside Maharashtra who have opted for interviews in the state. We
have notified the IBPS and are waiting for its directions which should
come in a day or two.We have also informed the candidates about the problem.
