Dear friends,
A spark is required to set a candle ablaze. But once it catches fire it keeps on burning by itself..for it has inherent tendency to burn and glow,,thus illuminating its surroundings and removing darkness. Believing in the same philosophy NBD thought of organizing a science fair in the school, with the objective to sensitize and train the students in some science topics so that at the end of few weeks they can come come up with certain science projects... and hence decided to visit the school every saturday.
When we visited Bagakunte school for the first day, we went with some simple experiments explaining concepts like density, vol-temp and vol-pressure relationships, thermal conductivity etc. Our experiments were simple but very interesting. As a result about 300 students listened to us with attention for more than one hour.Few things like liquid nitrogen just amazed them.Everyone wanted to touch and feel liquid nitrogen.
In the subsequent weeks we went with more experiments explaining concepts like newtons law of motion, inertia, electromagnetism and many more and showing them amazing things like solid carbon dioxide(dry ice) etc. It not only amazed them but also motivated them to ask questions.
After having gone there for few weeks we realize that though those experiments may seem simple to us but for them they open completely new realm of thinking. It gives them a chance to shed their fear about science, to look at scientific phenomenon with curiosity and interest and most importantly to question things which they see around their surroundings. Though in few hours we may not teach them even a few concepts..and that is not our motto also..but at least we can ignite the spark and rest they will do themselves.
Due to some reasons we could not go during last two weeks, but we are again going from this saturday.
We request all of you to come forward to help in this activity. Lets help us in designing/compiling experiments or explaining things to students by visiting the school.

Those who can come this saturday or in coming weeks to the school may contact me at my mobile no or can mail back. Those knowing Kannada can be very helpful as the school which we are visiting is a government school and students understand mainly Kannada.
