Hi all,

I'm auctioning off my "nicely upgraded" 12" iBook:

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4122830096

The auction finishes late Sunady (18/04) afternoon. If emailing me
directly, make sure you remove the "nospam" in the email address. Cut n
paste of the auction details:

- Items included in this auction are:
- iBook
- 900MHz G3 PPC (PowerPC) processor, 512kB L2 cache.
- 100MHz FSB (front-side bus). Earlier white iBooks models had a
66MHz FSB.
- 12" 1024x768 LCD, no dead pixels, brightest LCD I've had in
all 3 of my iBooks over the years.
- 640MB memory. 128MB on board, 512MB so-dimm in slot. Maximum
RAM configuration possible.
- 80GB 5400rpm 8MB cache 2.5" Hitachi Ultra-ATA 100 HDD
(hard-drive). I replaced the standard 4200rpm 512kB (possibly
2MB?) cache HDD that came with it with something better....
Hitachi's web-site show heat output of this drive is similar to
the 4200rpm models, so over-heating hasn't been an issue.
- ComboDrive. Toshiba SD-R2412: 24x CD-ROM, 24x CD-R, 10x CD-RW,
4x DVD-ROM.
- 32MB ATI Rage M7 AGP video card. OpenGL and Apple Quartz
Extreme support. Also has display spanning turned on. By default
iBooks only come with display mirroring enabled.
- 1x 56k v.90 on-board modem with RJ11 plug.
- 1x 10/100Mb/s auto-pin-sensing on-board ethernet with RJ45
plug.
- 2x USB 1.1 ports.
- 1x 6pin Firewire 400 port.
- Battery
- 2 months old.
- Newer 54watt battery. Older ones were 48watts. This specific
battery measures 4230mAh of capacity.
- The original battery had a crack in the white plastic cover
from the factory and I eventually got Apple to replace it under
warranty.
- White block travel power adapter
- This is one of the newer 3-prong earthed power supplies, not
the older style 2-prong un-earthed ones that came with earlier
iBooks and left an annoying 50Hz hum in your headphones.
- 3-prong Australian power cord
- To suit above power adapter.
- White.
- 2-prong travel plug to suit above adapter
- Yes, you can use the earthed adapter with an unearthed plug -
Apple include it - you just get the 50Hz hum in your headphones.
- White.
- Apple mini-video plug to normal HD15 monitor plug
- Plug in a monitor/LCD/projector and increase your desktop size
or just mirror your iBook's display. This iBook has display
spanning turned on. By default the iBook only comes with
mirroring turned on.
- White
- AirPort card
- Credit-card style AirPort card installed in the AirPort bay
under the keyboard.
- TV-out adapter
- Plugs into the mini-video plug and gives you an RCA and
s-video plug to connect up a TV/projector. Either mirror the
iBook's LCD or span onto the second device for a larger desktop.
- White.
- Software.
- MacOSX install CDs.
- MacOS 9 install CD.
- iBook Software Restore CDs.
- iBook software restore CD.
- Apple iBook hardware testing CD.
- World Book Media CD.
- Packagaing
- All the original packaging - perfect for safe postage.
- Original iBook boxes, bags, wire-ties and foam packaging.
- Original brown cardboard shipping box for above cardboard box.
- Extended 3 year parts and labour warranty
- Not the normal 1 year parts and labour warranty.
- Includes all original paperwork and receipts.

- Random notes:
- Condition of goods?
- Purchase date: Aug. 2003 (over two years of warranty left).
- Battery replaced: Feb. 2004 (original battery came from the
factory with a small crack in the casing).
- The iBook is in perfect condition.
- It is always transported in my padded laptop bag.
- There's always a cloth between the keyboard and screen when
it's closed to stop the keys leaving marks the screen.
- The battery is never run down completely (unlike normal
NiCd/MH batteries, Apple's LiIon/Pol batteries do not like being
run down).
- The iBook is always elevated on my desk to aid air circulation
to keep it cool.
- The power adapter is always used with an APC laptop surge
protector in front of it.
- Why am I selling?
- Work just orderred me a new 12" PowerBook. :)
- Comparing
- If you're going to compare this auction to a brand new 800MHz
12" iBook ($1899 rrp), don't forget to include the RAM upgrade
($264 rrp), the hard-drive upgrade ($549 rrp and $60 to get
Apple to install it under warranty), an airport card ($199 rrp -
although Airport Extreme, while mine is just AirPort), TV-out
adapter ($45 rrp) and extended 3yr warranty ($449 rrp). That's
an RRP of $3465...
- Verification of photos
- I've included a note listing the start day of the auction in
the main photo to verify that the item you're bidding for is the
actual item in the photo.
- Changes to details
- I'm more than happy to accept corrections to any of the
details provided above. Any corrections people email me will be
added to the item.

- Conditions of sale:
- If you're in Perth, you're welcome to come and inspect the goods
before bidding/buying.
- Goods won't be handed over or posted/couriered until payment is
received in cash or bank cheque or until an EFT or personal cheque
clears into my bank account.
- I'm also quite happy sending goods via COD or using an escrow.
- All postage/delivery/couriering, insurance and escrow fees are to be
paid by the buyer.
