Dear Alumni,
Wish you and the family members a very happy, colourful and prosperous Diwali!
As you are already aware, your alma mater IIM Calcutta will complete her 50th year on November 14, 2011. We at IIM Calcutta plan to celebrate this occasion with a 3 day event during November 14-16, 2011.
There will be a two-day convention on Management Education for Sustainable Tomorrow during November 14 to 15 where IIMC community, directors and deans from several IIMs and renowned management schools in India and the world, some noted academicians and industry leaders, former IIMC professors and alumni would participate and deliberate. There is a growing belief that management schools need to give greater importance to research on issues of sustainability, and incorporate “Sustainability Thinking” in their curriculum. Through this conference we would like to develop greater awareness and appreciation of the criticality of “Sustainability Thinking” and evolve a broad consensus on how to embrace and integrate this issue in the management curriculum.
On the third day there will be a session to reminisce about the Institute. The three-day event will end by honouring retired faculty members and staff, former directors, current faculty and staff who have served the Institute for a long period of time and contributed significantly to build IIMC into an iconic institution in management education. The Institute would also introduce the Distinguished Alumnus Award and confer the same to select alumni. We received a sizable number of nominations for the award in a short period of time.
I take this opportunity to thank all the alumni who sent their nominations for the Distinguished Alumnus Award.
Please find appended below the programme schedule of the event during November 14-16, 2011 to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of IIM Calcutta. It is a great pleasure for me to invite you and the family on behalf of the Institute to join us in this celebration and be a witnesses to one of the most historic moments of IIMC, the Institute ,which means so much to all of us.
