The role of analytics in solving business problems has increased manifold in recent years, causing a spike in the demand for trained professionals. Analytics and Big Data Technologies have become a competitive strategy for many companies. The Data Centre and Analytics Lab (DCAL) at IIM Bangalore was established in 2012 to provide a platform for Analytics and Big Data professionals to create and disseminate knowledge in the field of Analytics.
IIMB’s Analytics Masterclass is an initiative for academics and practitioners to share the applications of Analytics and Big Data in various disciplines of management. During the masterclass, domain experts will discuss how Analytics and Big Data can be used for solving domain and sector specific problems.
In the Masterclass on Retail Analytics, our focus will be on understanding how retailers (both brick and mortar and e-tailers) can leverage analytics, machine learning and big data concepts for effective decision making on various aspects of decision making. This could range from demand prediction, merchandising, supply chain management, shelf space allocation, predicting product returns and cancellations, fraud, markdown optimization, promotions, recommender systems, etc. The themes draw upon insights from the field of consumer behaviour, retailing, e-tailing, sales and marketing for effective management of retail and e-tail organizations.
