Hello All

 

The 1st International Conference on Analytics put up by DCAL under the watchful guidance of Prof. was a great experience. Super. Every aspect was perfectly sealed except for one that I felt was an wonderful misfit - a nostalgic portrait, an Aha outlier that went straight into my mind bypassing all other aspects of Analytics. Triggered a need. Need for Memory.

 

Back home, tired over an overnight journey. Thought I should pen down my views prior to my second innings of sleep into a Saturday morning. 

  

It goes without saying in this modern race to conquer, man might be fast forgetting that there is something in life to relish.

Afraid that instances encountered these days might have to fight amongst themselves to find a comfortable slot to get into one's memoir.

 

I need to be honest in this forum. When I decide to sever connections with corporate life and decide to walk the woods not allowing my needs to grow, ANOVA or FUZZY might not churn in my memory. In Analytical terms, they ought to 'churn' by themselves. I know my end state ROI shall be a big cipher from the perspective I shall neither strive to recollect quants nor feel sorry that I forgot. Rather I shall remember 'overhead taps getting opened' or 'difference between Excellent, Great and Interesting Question' or 'the little boy who happened to have understood that there shall not be any free lunch at an early stage in his life demanding money to pose for a picture perfect portrait' or the 'modern message that was laced with SWOT' or 'the parrot and the magician on-board the ship' or 'automatic beer dispenser' and bountiful to follow as well.

 

I did pilot my weakness with a few that All Work and No Play Makes Joy a Dull Boy. Don't panic. I do not know who Jack is.But, people who had stepped on to my friendly territory call me Joy. 

 

Come 28 Feb 2014, we all shall move forward unintentionally allowing each passing day to dampen instances from this wonderful cluster of great minds and personalities not transforming into memories. Why not a light hearted, fun-filled gathering on that day evening at some place outside IIMB campus? I would be certainly delighted to hit 'one for the road', for I know that I will take home memories that shall walk the woods with me. 

 

A BAI4 class party is what is suggested. Would be truly delighted to embrace an evening (28.02) with you all in the company of Profs, Saif, Ali and DCAL Team. Few of our friends with whom I bounced this thought sounded instantly positive. Should you be kind enough to register your YEA or NAY on or before 21 Dec 2013, we can start the planning as many (including self) will have to plan their travel schedule and also we can invite Profs so that they keep their calendar free.

 

I am sure Rahul shall be more than happy to lead us on this.

On Moodle there is this file named "Assignment Case." But it is assignment 3 question paper that got uploaded. There is no case in it.

Hi All,

 

We visited a club nearby to college (Woodrose club by Brigade Hospitality Group). Fantastic location just 1.5 kms from the campus. They have conducted few get together parties for the previous batches.

Now here is the deal:

 

Their package per person for outsiders are 1600 + taxes (26.23%). The package which they offered to IIMB was 1300 + taxes (26.23%). This was the deal which they customized for IIMB. This seemed pretty high as well so went into further discussion with them.

 

The final package which we have negotiated with them is Rs.1100 + taxes (26.23%)  which comes to 1390 (all inclusive). Moreover, there were few request for the DJ & music as well. Club has agreed to wave off the service tax for the DJ and music. So, the cost for DJ and music comes to Rs.15000 (all inclusive). 

 

They will be making all the arrangements at roof top courtyard and a closed door room besides for DJ and music.

 

Now comes the math part of it. I am assuming that we will be requesting the program directors, Kaushank, Ali and Saif (6 in all) to come and we will adjust the cost within us.

We can take a call whether we want to have DJ and lights or do away with it. Drop a mail to me and will take a call based on the response (whether to include or exclude DJ).

 

Further, I have got confirmation from just 26 people out of a batch of 58. Few of them have mailed saying they may not attend. Others, please confirm so that I can take this forward.

 

We will have to pay 50% now and 50% on the day of the event. I can make the payment on my own for now but I need confirmation if you all are fine with the deal.

I have confirmed the booking to woodrose. Also, based on discussion yesterday in class, I have also confirmed DJ and lights.

 

30 people have confirmed participation. But this number may go up as some of you showed interest but will be able to confirm only in upcoming weeks. So assuming that we are a total of 40 people attending the party, here is the per person amount:

 

Amount/Per person = 1390 (food and beverage) + 375 (DJ and light) + 209 (for IIMB faculty) = Rs. 1974 (all inclusive).

 

People at Bangalore can pay when we meet on 15th Feb'14. Other locations, on 24th Feb'14 in campus.
