My partner and I have made plans for a site portraying artists
and thier art work. We want to create a showplace of art where the
users themselves can participate and add to the collection as a
growing collection. We also want to enable interaction between the
artists and the audence.
This site is being constructed as part of the Think Quest
project, a national contest of hight school students to create a web
site with an educational theme and content.
We are trying to include as much local art as possible, to get
the Wichita (Kansas) community as involved sa possible, however we
also want to provide this local art as a foundation for a growing
collection of work.
You are this project. With out your support we cannot build
anything meaningful. You will retain full rights to any art that is
submirtted, and no part of this site will be used to grain a profit.
I'm certain I don't have to tell you that even with my above
promesses, nothing will prevent users from downloading and using the
works, except their own conscious. We are investigating the extent of
copyright laws in electronic media (if you can help answer this,
please respond)., and will take any possible steps against this.
As for the acceptibility of works, use you head. We have no
wish to censor or politicize this project, however we do reserve the
right to dismiss any entry. If need be, we will establish a warning or
boundry to satisfy the Communications Decency Act, but we will dismiss
nothing that has a possible value to thsi project mearly because it
might be qustionable in relation to the CDA. I'm afraid the ctriteria
for this will be our own opion, however, we will try to be as
imparcial as possible.
On a more uplifting note, as for formats of submissions, we
will not be offering our services in the conversion of works to
digital media outside of Wichita, KS, due our own limitations. We also
wish to make this site as acessible to as many as possible, so we
will use uncommon media only when nessisary and always provide an
alternate format. This means GIF or JPEG images must acompny any other
formats. Inside the Wichita area, we will offer the photographing and
conversion of 2-dimensional works at our own cost. We will also
convert 3-dimensional objects utilizing the Apple QuickTime VR format
as well as tradional images. This will allow those who have downloaded
the free QuickTime software to manipulate scuptures and such as if
they were a real object. We will provide any editing or format
conversion services we can to everyone.
This project won't happen without you. We wish to give you, as
an artist, an oppertunity at reaching a breadth of exposure not
usually possible. We will include your commentaries on each work and
on your work as a whole. We also want to provide a means of
interaction between you the artist and the audience, for the
inspiration of all.
The power of the Internet is incredible, and we wish to promot
it as a viable, signifigant theater for human culture. We hope that
this site will continue in the tradition of many other sites in
bringing more than the collegde's student home page to the web.
If you are intersted in being a part of this oppurtunity, or
have any questions or comments, mail us at:
Jason Watkins "wat...@dtc.net"
or
Justin Lauzet "jus...@southwind.net"
We cannot emphasize this any more than I already have, without
you, this will not happen without you.

Thankyou for you time,
Jason P. Watkins
