Dear all,

I'm sharing this news for the British Library's UV / IIIF product team and wider UV community...

The Universal Viewer (UV) is a community-developed open source project on a mission to help you share your content with the world. The UV can play audio and video files, display images, 3D files, PDFs and more.

This release includes an update to OpenSeadragon 6, and support for IIIF Choice, adding a drop down menu to enable users to switch between different images available for the same canvas (e.g. infrared, ultraviolet). Full release notes at https://github.com/UniversalViewer/universalviewer/releases/tag/v4.4.0

More importantly, you can see it in action with new multispectral images of the infamously burnt 'Cotton Genesis' https://iiif.bl.uk/uv/#?manifest=https://bl.digirati.io/manifests/ark:/81055/man_10000049.0x000001

Previous updates included work on accessibility, mobile UX, the developer experience and much more https://github.com/UniversalViewer/universalviewer/releases

More on the Cotton Genesis manuscripts and how new digitisation has helped scholars https://www.bl.uk/stories/blogs/posts/rescued-from-the-flames-the-cotton-genesis-restored-to-life

Cheers,
Mia
