Hi all,

I have just published a few experiments around IIIF collections of
digitized documents from Gallica (BnF), but only of Archives and
Manuscripts (http://archivesetmanuscrits.bnf.fr). Nevertheless it may be
of interest for folks in the community who are interested in the
crawling and harvesting of IIIF resources.

This collection endpoint should be considered as a work-in-progress and
it is not exhaustive (but it should almost be with respect to medieval
manuscripts).
I am still working on a script to update these collections with the
latest additions to Gallica (since september 26th), and there are also a
few improvements I could think of...

The top collection is located at: http://biblissima.fr/iiif/collection/top
At this point there is only one sub-collection
(http://biblissima.fr/iiif/collection/gallica-bnf/), but there could be
more later on (for instance collections corresponding to curated sets of
manuscripts, like medieval libraries or by ancient owners, and of course
including manifests from other institutions - especially from the BVMM).

The "Gallica" collection now holds 34 769 manifests, distributed into
the following hierarchy (mainly by department/fonds/subfonds):
1/ Clairvaux manuscripts (from Troyes):
http://biblissima.fr/iiif/collection/gallica-bnf/mss-clairvaux/
2/ Arsenal Library:
http://biblissima.fr/iiif/collection/gallica-bnf/arsenal-library/
3/ BnF Manuscripts department:
http://biblissima.fr/iiif/collection/gallica-bnf/manuscripts-department/
- arabe
- latin
- latin
- NAL
- grec
- anciens fonds
- coislin
- supplément grec
- japonais
- etc.

For each manifest object referenced in these collections, we have the
following fields:
- manifest url (@id)
- shortened shelfmark (as label)
- thumbnail url
- Gallica url
- Catalog url (BnF Archives and Manuscripts Catalog)
- OAI record url
- repository
- complete shelfmark: "Country, City, Repository, [Fonds] Numeric Shelfmark"

I have added the "top collection" url to the "IIIF Top-Level
Collections" spreadsheet on Gdrive:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1apQKFkfBV89BvycaBPN6v-LjeaKaVVMaMUsY6L4KRJo/edit#gid=0

Any feedback is welcome and would be helpful.
Thank you.

Régis
