We are excited to announce our next Universal Viewer community sprint, kicking off on 7th May!
Building on insights from our previous sprints, this time we’re introducing a series of three sequential sprints – designed to give us the time and space to dig deep and make meaningful improvements.

Our focus? DEVeloper EXperience.
Have you run into frustrations while working on the UV? Whether its build failures, clunky processes, or frustrating dev tools, get involved and work together to tackle these issues head-on.

Lets collaborate to:

  • Develop tools to improve visibility of config options
  • Improve documentation around analytics
  • Update tools and dependencies
  • And much more!

Who can get involved?
Everyone can contribute, in a variety of ways. We need the following roles:

  • Scrum master
  • Product owner
  • Developers
  • Comms officer
  • Accessibility testers
  • QA/Final testers
  • Technical writers
  • Translators (Welsh, French, Polish and Swedish)

What is the sprint timetable?

  • Sprint 1: Weds 07 May – Thurs 22 May 2025
  • Sprint 2: Tues 10 June – Thurs 26 June
  • Sprint 3: Tues 01 July – Thurs 17 July

What should I do before the sprint starts on the 07 May 2025?

  1. Join the #community-sprint and #community-chat Slack channels
  2. Open the shared Miro board
  3. Read through the Miro Board Overview section and if you cannot add your name and the company/institution you represent to a card in the Sprint Details section, please contact Sara Weale via Slack message
  4. Read through the Sprint Resources and check you can open a new issue on the the UV Community Sprint Project BoardIf you don’t have access, please message Sara Weale with your GitHub handle
  5. Add the events to your calendar using the link in the Sprint Resources section
  6. Comment on this thread if you are interested in taking any of the above roles or contact @Erin Burnand or @saraweale if you'd like to discuss these.

What is expected of me during the sprint?
Be available as much as possible during the sprint. It may not be possible for you to attend every stand-up, but sprints move quickly so if you miss a meeting, please chat in the Community Sprint channel so you can find out who is working on what

Be on time for the inception, stand-ups and retrospective

Ask! If you are unsure of anything or do not understand the purpose of a task then please ask, either in the daily stand-ups or on the Community Sprint channel

Communicate! The best way to work together is to talk to each other and keep GitHub issues updated as we are collaborating

Be realistic about what we can achieve

Enjoy working with new colleagues and contributing to the UV community.
