Hello all,
Each month we host open calls for all interested parties in the IIIF community, with topics ranging from technical discussions, interesting IIIF-enabled projects and implementations, product and tool demos, and more. Here’s a look ahead at our upcoming IIIF Community Calls:
26 February at 11am ET / 16:00 UTC (Note Different Time)
“IIIF in Finland”
Representatives from the National Library of Finland will provide a look into their roadmap to implement IIIF at a national level, funded by a 2-year grant. The project aims to improve the viewing experience, international visibility, and interoperability of visual cultural resources in Finland. Those interested in IIIF infrastructure, national level implementations, and outreach to cultural institutions about IIIF may be interested in learning more.
12 March at 12pm ET / 17:00 UTC
“Universal Viewer 4.1.0”
The Universal Viewer team will demo the latest release, including: updates to make UV more inclusive and user friendly, improved visibility of IIIF collections, and image manipulation controls. Those who use UV at their institutions and those who use UV to interact with and view IIIF resources are encouraged to attend, as well as those interested in accessibility issues.
9 April at 12pm ET / 17:00 UTC
“Liiive”
Rainer Simon will present Liiive, a real-time collaborative viewing and & annotation platform. This demo may be particularly interesting to distributed research teams, educators, art historians, and curators.
14 May at 12pm ET / 17:00 UTC
Artemis
The project team behind the Artemis (Advanced Research Tools for Environmental Studies for historical maps of the Scheldt valley) will present on their work, which leverages IIIF, Allmaps, Madoc, and Linked Open Data to enable historical and ecological research, as well as spatial planning. This may be of interest to users of Allmaps and Madoc and those interested in IIIF in scientific research.
The Zoom link for all calls is available on the IIIF Community Calendar: iiif.io/community. Recordings of past calls are available on our YouTube channel.
Hope to see you at our upcoming events!
