Dear Dr. Chandershekhar,

 
You are aware that the Confederation of Construction products & Services (CCPS) is a non-profit organisation dedicated to cause of sustainable growth of Construction Industry. Besides providing a common platform for construction product sector to share and resolve issues of common concern, the CCPS also facilitates interaction and exchange between the product sector and the government, the construction professionals and the consumer, bringing together the entire construction chain.
 
Working for the objective CCPS is organising a lecture in collaboration with the Deptt. of Resource Management & Design Application, Lady Irwin College on topic “Towards a more sustainability built environment: Policy to Practice” on 15th January 2009 at 4:00 PM at the MPR Hall, Lady Irwin College, Sikandara Road, New Delhi 110001 followed by high tea. The speaker for this will be Prof. Phillip Jones who is chair of Architectural Science and Head of School at the Welsh School of Architecture, Cardiff University, U.K. who is presently in India for a short duration. He is kind enough to spare time for this lecture. A brief note about the Prof. Phil Jones is also attached.
 

 The lecture/presentation will comprise of a brief review of the major drivers for sustainability in the built environment, government policies in various countries, and sustainability in design terms, at both building and urban scale. The discussion would encompass live case studies related to UK, EU, China and Middle East in which Prof. Phil Jones was involved. The focus would also be on how to get government policy into practice, the perceived barriers (including cost, risk, investment, skills) and business opportunities. The aim would be to highlight sustainability as a positive force in defining our future built environment.
 
The lecture is of particular significance to Architects and engineers working at various levels as consultants in industry, public and private sector organizations, central and state government departments, academic and research institutions, municipal utilities, members of professional societies, etc.

No participation fee is required to be paid.  It will be appreciated if your participation is confirmed through mail or phone preferably through the enclosed Registration Form to help us organising the event in a better way as the limited seats are available.
