Senator Cotton to Big Tech After Censorship of Biden-Burisma Report: 'Winter Is Coming' | 16 Oct 2020 | Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) on Thursday warned Big Tech “oligarchs” that they will soon face regulation, after Twitter and Facebook censored reports from the New York Post that were unflattering to former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden. After the first of the series of articles published, Facebook reduced the articles' distribution and Twitter slapped a warning label on the stories and locked accounts belonging to the Post and those associated with the Trump campaign, claiming the stories violated their policy on hacked material... Republican senators requested subpoenas for the heads of Facebook and Twitter to testify before the Senate. "You have big tech oligarchs declaring war on Donald Trump, on the Republican Party, on conservatives across America," Cotton said on a Trump campaign press call on Thursday. "Refusing to allow people to post the url of a story, and then they just issue a mealy-mouthed apology saying that they could have communicated better...that is not exactly the standard that big tech oligarchs apply to every story about Donald Trump for the last five years," he said. "And for all of those tech oligarchs who think they can get away with this, I will simply say that winter is coming."

Graham: Senate Judiciary to vote on subpoena for Facebook CEO --The panel is looking to compel the chiefs of Facebook and Twitter to testify on allegations of bias. | 16 Oct 2020 | The Senate Judiciary Committee plans to vote on whether to authorize a subpoena for Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg to testify on allegations of anti-conservative bias alongside Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, Chair Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) told POLITICO on Friday. Twitter and Facebook have come under a barrage of criticism from President Donald Trump and his Republican allies this week after they limited the reach of a New York Post article alleging ties between Joe Biden and his son's business interests, citing concerns about spreading individuals' personal information and hacked materials. Conservative lawmakers ramped up calls to revamp the legal shield that protects them and other internet companies from many lawsuits...Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.), chair of Judiciary's Subcommittee on Crime and Terrorism, went a step further and called for the full committee to also authorize subpoenas for Zuckerberg.

Rep. Ken Buck demands DOJ investigate removal of big tech protections after censoring of NYPost Biden article --'I urge the DOJ to open an investigation into Twitter and Facebook's harmful actions to censor free speech and curtail Americans' access to a free press,' Buck wrote | 14 Oct 2020 | Rep. Ken Buck, R-Colo., sent a letter to the Department of Justice on Wednesday, asking the attorney general to look into accusations of censorship by Twitter and Facebook, after the big tech giants took steps to limit the exposure of a New York Post article critical of Hunter Biden. "I write to express my concerns regarding Twitter and Facebook’s recent actions to censor a prominent American news outlet," Buck began. "These actions violate the platform’s immunity under Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act and threaten to chill free speech throughout our nation." The NY Post story, entitled "Smoking-gun email reveals how Hunter Biden introduced Ukrainian businessman to VP dad," touched upon reports that the former vice president's son had unscrupulous financial and business ties to a natural gas firm in Ukraine -- Burisma Holdings -- and that his father later stepped in to have a probing prosecutor fired for looking into the matter.

Twitter Locks Trump Campaign Account Over Hunter Biden Post - Spokesman | 15 Oct 2020 | Trump's reelection campaign said Thursday that Twitter suspended its official account, claiming that Team Trump's post about Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden and his son, Hunter, is a violation of its policy. "Your account has been locked," the Twitter message said. "What happened? We have determined that this account violated the Twitter Rules. Specifically, for: Violating our rules against posting private information." The account was active and posting on Twitter again hours after campaign officials first said it had been locked. The original campaign post which Trump campaign spokesman Tim Murtaugh said triggered Twitter to take action was apparently taken down. The incident came less than three weeks from the Nov. 3 election.

WH press secretary locked out of Twitter for sharing Post's Hunter Biden story | 14 Oct 2020 | White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany on Wednesday was locked out of her personal Twitter account for sharing The Post's bombshell cover story on Hunter Biden's alleged hard drive and an email linking Joe Biden to his son’s job at a Ukrainian energy company. “Your account has been locked,” a message from the social media network informed McEnany, whose account has more than 1 million followers. "We have determined that this account violated the Twitter Rules," the network said, highlighting her prior tweet with a link to The Post’s article. Without providing any evidence, Twitter said McEnany -- who shared a screenshot with The Post -- violated "our rules against distribution of hacked material." McEnany told The Post she will not comply with Twitter's request that she delete her tweet to restore access to her account.

Twitter's double standard emerges after NY Post Hunter Biden story blocked, other media get pass, critics say --'Their goal is to make it as unfair and undemocratic as possible,' Dan Gainor says | 15 Oct 2020 | Twitter faced unrelenting backlash after blocking the spread of a New York Post bombshell that was highly critical of Hunter Biden on Wednesday, as critics pointed out the platform gave no such treatment to stories from CNN, The New York Times and other media with highly questionable sourcing. CEO Jack Dorsey even admitted his company was wrong to intervene on the Hunter Biden story without sufficiently explaining why... Conservative comedian Tim Young, who has used Twitter to build his name recognition, blasted what he called the platform's hypocrisy.  "After three years of anonymously sourced, disproven stories with no evidence pushed by CNN, The New York Times, Buzzfeed, the Washington Post -- just to name a few -- about Trump, Twitter suddenly decides that a story that makes Biden look bad is what they should edit,” Young told Fox News.

Facebook reducing distribution of Hunter Biden story in New York Post --Social media site says it will rely on its "fact-checking" partners to determine the story's legitimacy | 14 Oct 2020 | Facebook is limiting the distribution of a story in the New York Post about a purported email between Hunter Biden and an adviser to a Ukrainian energy company. The 2015 email indicates that Vadym Pozharskyi, an adviser to Burisma, thanked Biden for "giving an opportunity" to meet former Vice President Joe Biden. The former vice president has previously said he has "never spoken to my son about his overseas business dealings." Facebook said it would rely on its [Soros/Gates] fact-checking partners to determine the story's legitimacy, but until then, it is taking steps to tamp down on its spread.

Hunter Biden Offered $10 Million Annually by Chinese Energy Firm for 'Introductions Alone,' Email Shows | 15 Oct 2020 | Hunter Biden entered into a consulting contract with China's largest private energy company that initially earned him 10 million a year "for introductions alone," according to leaked emails. In an email chain from Aug. 2, 2017, Biden discussed a deal with the former chairman of CEFC China Energy, Ye Jianming, saying Ye agreed to change the terms of Biden's three-year consulting contract with CEFC, which initially promised Biden 10 million per-year "for introductions alone," to make it "much more lasting and more lucrative," the New York Post reported, although the authenticity of the Biden emails has not been independently confirmed. The new deal included a 50 percent equity stake in a holding company created by Ye rather than the 10 million in annual cash that had been previously negotiated.

Smoking-gun email reveals how Hunter Biden introduced Ukrainian businessman to VP dad | 14 Oct 2020 | Hunter Biden introduced his father, then-Vice President Joe Biden, to a top executive at a Ukrainian energy firm less than a year before the elder Biden pressured government officials in Ukraine into firing a prosecutor who was investigating the company, according to emails obtained by The Post. The never-before-revealed meeting is mentioned in a message of appreciation that Vadym Pozharskyi, an adviser to the board of Burisma, allegedly sent Hunter Biden on April 17, 2015, about a year after Hunter joined the Burisma board at a reported salary of up to 50,000 a month. "Dear Hunter, thank you for inviting me to DC and giving an opportunity to meet your father and spent [sic] some time together. It's realty [sic] an honor and pleasure," the email reads.

Fox News obtains email sent to Hunter Biden requesting his help as Ukrainian gas company was being probed | 14 Oct 2020 | An email sent to Hunter Biden in 2014 by an official with the Ukrainian gas company Burisma asks the son of the then-vice president Joe Biden to "use your influence" to help stop "politically motivated actions." “We urgently need your advice on how you could use your influence to convey a message / signal, etc .to stop what we consider to be politically motivated actions," a May 12, 2014 email reads from Vadim Pozharskyi, an adviser to Burisma's board. The email is addressed to both Hunter Biden and his former business partner Devon Archer. Less than a year later, Pozharskyi sent another email that mentions meeting with Hunter's father. "Dear Hunter, thank you  for inviting me to DC and giving an opportunity to meet your father and spent some time together. It's realty an honor and pleasure," the email, dated April 17, 2015, reads.

Biden's son-in-law advises campaign on pandemic while investing in Covid-19 startups --Howard Krein is an informal adviser to the Democratic nominee and part of a $1 million coronavirus-focused investment effort. | 13 Oct 2020 | At the same time that Joe Biden's son-in-law, Howard Krein, has been advising Biden's campaign on its coronavirus response, Krein's venture capital business has been running a special initiative to invest in health care startups that offer solutions to the pandemic. In March, as Covid-19 began spreading in the United States, the investment firm, StartUp Health, unveiled a new coronavirus initiative soliciting pitches from entrepreneurs with products that addressed the outbreak. The next month, reports in Bloomberg and the New York Times listed Krein among those participating in daily calls to brief Biden on health policy during the pandemic, while StartUp Health announced its intention to invest 1 million across 10 startups with coronavirus applications within 30 days.

New Zealand party accuses Facebook of election interference after being removed from platform for Covid-19 'misinformation' --Move comes just two days before New Zealand holds a general election | 15 Oct 2020 |  A New Zealand political party, Advance NZ, has cried foul after its Facebook page was removed, allegedly for containing falsehoods about the coronavirus pandemic. The ban comes just two days before a general election. In a statement, Facebook said that the page had been scrubbed due to “repeated violations” of its policy prohibiting misinformation about Covid-19 that could lead to physical harm. [Translation: disseminating truths about COVID-19 that Bill Gates dislikes.] The move comes just two days before New Zealand holds a general election. A spokesperson for Facebook insisted that the decision was in keeping with clearly laid out guidelines and was not politically motivated. Party co-leader Billy Te Kahika explained in a video message posted to Instagram that Advance NZ's page was shuttered as the party hosted a live broadcast on the platform. He described the move as "amazing" and a threat to "democratic New Zealand." In a statement, Te Kahika denounced Facebook for "election interference" and argued that his party has been "bravely questioning the government's approach to Covid-19."

Eli Lilly pauses study of COVID-19 treatment over safety concerns | 13 Oct 2020 | Eli Lilly's late stage clinical trial of a monoclonal antibody treatment has been paused by federal regulators due a safety concern, the company said Tuesday. A company spokeswoman said an independent data safety monitoring board recommended pausing trial enrollment. "Safety is of the utmost importance to Lilly. We are aware that, out of an abundance of caution, the ACTIV-3 independent data safety monitoring board (DSMB) has recommended a pause in enrollment," spokeswoman Molly McCully told The Hill in an emailed statement.

Johnson & Johnson pauses Covid-19 vaccine trial after 'unexplained illness' | 12 Oct 2020 | Drugmaker Johnson & Johnson said Monday it has paused the advanced clinical trial of its experimental coronavirus vaccine because of an unexplained illness in one of the volunteers. "Following our guidelines, the participant's illness is being reviewed and evaluated by the ENSEMBLE independent Data Safety Monitoring Board (DSMB) as well as our internal clinical and safety physicians," the company said in a statement. ENSEMBLE is the name of the study. Johnson & Johnson's Janssen vaccine arm is developing the shot. The company did not say what the unexplained illness was.

Yale Scientist: Fauci 'in Bed with Forces,' 'Decisions not Based on Science,' 'Killing Americans.' Why Is No One Investigating This Man?| 13 Oct 2020 | On August 23, a guy named Harvey Risch made some shocking accusations against Anthony Fauci. Of course, that by itself doesn't say much since a lot of people have accused Anthony Fauci of a lot of things since he stepped into the spotlight as the de facto leader of America's response to COVID-19. Risch is a professor of epidemiology at Yale University. He has an M.D. from UC San Diego, a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago, and he's published over 300 papers in a career that spans four decades... Risch claims that Fauci has knowingly lied about the drug hydroxychloroquine and used his influence to get the FDA to help him suppress it because he and other bureaucrats are "in bed with other forces that are causing them to make decisions that are not based on the science [and are] killing Americans." Moreover, Risch specifically claims that Fauci and the FDA have caused "the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Americans who could have been saved by" HCQ.

Dr. Fauci Backed Controversial Wuhan Lab With U.S. Dollars for Risky Coronavirus Research | 20 April 2020 | Dr. Anthony Fauci is an adviser to President Donald Trump and something of an American folk hero for his steady, calm leadership during the pandemic crisis… Just last year, the National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Diseases, the organization led by Dr. Fauci, funded scientists at the Wuhan Institute of Virology and other institutions for work on gain-of-function research on bat coronaviruses. In 2019, with the backing of NIAID, the National Institutes of Health committed 3.7 million over six years for research that included some gain-of-function work. The program followed another 3.7 million, 5-year project for collecting and studying bat coronaviruses, which ended in 2019, bringing the total to 7.4 million.

Fukushima Wastewater and Cleanup Costs Pile Up | 11 Oct 2020 | At Fukushima-Daiichi in Japan, the triple disasters of earthquake, tsunami and three reactor meltdowns have caused the deaths of 15,899 people and left 2,529 unaccounted for, mostly in the three hardest-hit prefectures, according to the National Police Agency... This cooling water also becomes highly radioactive after coming in contact with the molten reactor fuel and so is being collected in large, hastily built tanks on the coastal reactor site. Tokyo Electric, or Tepco, has collected nearly 1.2 million metric tonnes (2,204.6 pounds) of contaminated water in about 1,000 tanks. The collected waste water also includes rain and groundwater that runs across the melted cores after pouring through earthquake-caused cracks in reactor foundations. Tepco says it will run out of space for more tanks in two years, and is lobbying vigorously to win permission to dump the waste water into the Pacific Ocean.

Teacher decapitated near Paris 'after showing Muhammad cartoon in class' --Police officers block road access on Friday night in Conflans-Saint-Honorine, north of Paris | 16 Oct 2020 | A teacher was beheaded on a street near Paris on Friday afternoon after hosting a class discussion with secondary school students about cartoons of Islam's Prophet Muhammad. The suspected killer, who was armed with a knife and a plastic pellet gun, was later shot dead by officers in a nearby town, police said. French authorities have launched an anti-terror investigation. President Emmanuel Macron called it an "Islamist terrorist attack". The victim, a history and geography teacher, was decapitated near a school in the commune of Conflans Saint-Honorine, northwest of the French capital, at around 5pm local time.

Protesters arrested on first day of Barrett hearings | 12 Oct 2020 | Capitol Police arrested 21 protesters outside the Dirksen Senate Office Building on Monday, the first day of Supreme Court confirmation hearings for Judge Amy Coney Barrett. Capitol Police spokeswoman Eva Malecki said in a statement that police responded to an "unlawful demonstration" at about 8:35 a.m. on Monday after protesters against Barrett's nomination to the high court held a sit-in in front of the building. Twenty-one were handcuffed and charged with obstructing the entryway, and one was charged with unlawful conduct.

Omg. Zuckerberg donates $100mn more for 'safe elections' as judge says no law prohibits private funding despite 'risk of skewing' vote | 15 Oct 2020 | Facebook bossMark Zuckerberg will donate another 100 million to aid election officials around the US after an initial 300 million grant was ruled lawful by a federal judge despite warning that the m-ney could distort the vote. A lawsuit challenging the grant scheme in Wisconsin was struck down on Wednesday, with US District Judge William Griesbach stating that he found no legal reason to bar five major cities in the state from receiving 6.3 million from the donated funds. However, Griesbach noted in his decision that the private cash could potentially influence the outcome of the election... Initially brought by the Wisconsin Voters Alliance last month, the suit alleged Zuckerberg’s grant m-ney was tantamount to bribery, arguing it would be used to unevenly boost voter turnout in Democratic districts across the five Wisconsin cities -- Green Bay, Kenosha, Madison, Milwaukee and Racine. Similar suits have been launched in a number of battleground states in the 2020 race, including Michigan, Minnesota, Iowa and Pennsylvania, where grant m-ney is also on offer for local elections offices.

Biden's ABC town hall questioners include former Obama speechwriter, wife of former Pennsylvania Dem candidate --Former Obama-Biden administration speechwriter among questioners at ABC town hall | 16 Oct 2020 | Two of the questioners at the ABC town hall featuring Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden on Thursday had ties to high-profile Democrats, including one questioner who previously worked as a speechwriter in the Obama administration. The queries came as President Trump, hundreds of miles away, was engaging in his own parallel town hall being aired on NBC. The ABC town hall was hosted by George Stephanopoulos, who was a communications director for the Bill Clinton White House and who has been a political journalist since 2002. One of the questioners at the ABC-hosted event was Nathan Osburn, a former speechwriter for the Obama White House. Osburn specifically worked for the Office of Public Affairs at the Commerce Department under the Obama-Biden administration and at the Small Business Administration. Osburn's profession was listed as "communications" on the ABC town hall graphic and his city was listed as Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

C-SPAN suspends Scully after he admits to lie about hack | 15 Oct 2020 | C-SPAN suspended its political editor Steve Scully indefinitely Thursday after he admitted to lying about his Twitter feed being hacked when he was confronted about a questionable exchange with former Trump aide Anthony Scaramucci. The news came on the day of what was supposed to be a career highlight for the 30-year C-SPAN veteran. Scully was to moderate the second debate between President Donald Trump and Democrat Joe Biden, which was canceled after Trump would not agree to a virtual format because of his COVID-19 diagnosis. A week ago, after Trump had criticized him as a "never Trumper," Scully tweeted "@Scaramucci should I respond to Trump." Scaramucci, a former Trump communications director and now a critic of the president, advised Scully to ignore him.

Biden repeats gaffe that he's running 'for the Senate,' appears to not remember Mitt Romney's name --This wasn't the first time the Democratic nominee misspoke about which office he was seeking | 12 Oct 2020 | Joe Biden raised eyebrows yet again on Monday for remarks he made on the campaign trail. While briefly taking questions from reporters en route to a campaign event in Ohio, Biden was asked if Judge Amy Coney Barrett's faith should be "considered" during her confirmation to the Supreme Court, something the Democratic nominee flatly rejected. However, as part of his explanation, he recalled a time when he "got in trouble" regarding the questioning of someone's faith. "You may remember, I got in trouble when we were running against the senator who was a Mormon, the governor, OK? And I took him on," Biden said. "No one's faith should be questioned." That governor was then-former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, the Republican nominee for president against Barack Obama in the 2012 election. Romney was elected Utah senator in 2018... "You know, we have to come together. That's why I'm running. I'm running as a proud Democrat for the Senate," Biden said, "when I ran as a proud Democrat for vice president, and I'm running as a proud Democrat for president. But I promise you this, I will govern as an American president."

Biden says voters 'don't deserve to know' his stance on packing Supreme Court --Biden has said voters will know his position the day after Election Day. | 10 Oct 2020 | Democratic nominee Joe Biden on Friday said that voters don't deserve to know if he would attempt to pack the Supreme Court if he wins in November and Amy Coney Barrett is confirmed to the high court. Biden was asked in Las Vegas, Nevada, about his position on packing the court with extra justices -- something that has seen support from a number of Democrats... Biden, who had opposed court packing in the primary, refused to answer the question on Thursday, saying "you'll know my position on court-packing the day after the election." On Friday, a KTNV reporter asked him again about whether he backs court packing and said:  "This is the number one thing that I've been asked about from viewers in the past couple of days." ..."Well, sir don't the voters deserve to know…?" reporter Ross DiMattei asked. "No they don't... I'm not gonna play his game, he’d love me to talk about, and I've already said something on court packing, he'd love that to be the discussion instead of what he's doing now," Biden said, likely referring to President Trump.

Members of black Delaware church don't recall Biden being 'raised' there | 12 Oct 2020 | More campaign trail claims from Democratic nominee Joe Biden have been called into question -- this time his tales of being "raised" in a black church in Delaware where he was supposedly a civil rights organizer. The former veep, 77, has repeatedly spoken about participating in the civil rights movement as a teenager in the 1960s and of attending organizing sessions at the Union Baptist Church in Wilmington -- then run by the Rev. Otis Herring, an acclaimed pastor who died in 1996. But congregants and a longtime assistant to Herring at the prominent black church told the Washington Free Beacon this week that they never remembered Biden attending as he claimed, and said he met Herring as an adult.

2 + 2 = thought crime? Mathematical certainty hangs in the balance as Orwell's worst fears come to life | 13 Oct 2020 | (Opinion) Not even the rules-based world of mathematics is safe from the PC inquisition, with the Mathematical Association of America claiming it is inherently racially biased. This madness threatens to halt progress in its tracks. This month, Americans got another bitter taste of 'progressive' insanity from one of the most unexpected of places. The Mathematical Association of America (MAA), which prides itself as "the world's largest community of mathematicians, students, and enthusiasts," came out and declared that "mathematics is created by humans and therefore inherently carries human biases." The MAA's revelation came in its October newsletter, which reads more like a fiery political manifesto than any mundane briefing on the math scene. It continued, "Reaching this potential in mathematics relies upon the academy and higher education engaging in...uncomfortable conversations about the detrimental effects of race and racism on our community."

UW Madison student government passes resolution supporting removal of Lincoln statue | 09 Oct 2020 | The University of Wisconsin-Madison student government recently voted to approve a resolution that supports the removal of the school's famous Abraham Lincoln statue, arguing it serves as a remnant "of this school's history of white supremacy." The Associated Students of Madison's resolution, approved Sept. 29, calls for campus fixtures billed as racist by activists to be "reevaluated and then removed and/or replaced based on inputs from BIPOC students." Among those items is the university's historic 111-year-old Lincoln statue that sits atop the common passing area Bascom Hill. Another is Chamberlin Rock, a large glacial boulder that has been a campus fixture for 95 years. The resolution states their removal would "create an inclusive and safe environment for all students." It passed unanimously.

Dictionary changes its definition of 'sexual preference' as Barrett gets called out for using term --Beginning Wednesday, the fifth definition for sexual preference included the word 'offensive' | 14 Oct 2020 | Merriam-Webster dictionary changed its definition of "sexual preference" to include the word "offensive" as Democrats slammed Supreme Court nominee Judge Amy Coney Barrett for using the term during Tuesday’s Senate confirmation hearings. Prior to Tuesday, the fifth definition listed for "preference" referred to orientation, as in sexual preference. But as of Wednesday, the fifth definition for preference included the word "offensive" when used to describe sexual orientation... On Tuesday, Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-HI) slammed Barrett for saying she would not discriminate on the basis of "sexual preference.

The woke mob strikes again, with the phrase 'sexual preference' banned overnight. Or was it really so sudden? By CLG Founder Michael Rectenwald (Opinion) | 15 Oct 2020 | It seems that the woke world uses Orwell's 1984 as an instruction manual, as it changes word uses and meanings by the day. Now the phrase 'sexual preference' is out – despite its use by a leading LGBTQ magazine only weeks ago. The list of words and phrases deemed verboten by woke totalitarians has grown, seemingly overnight. We're now told that "sexual preference" belongs in the dustbin of history. During the senate hearings for US Supreme Court nominee Justice Amy Coney Barrett on Tuesday, Senator Mazie Hirono (D-HI) scolded Justice Barrett after the nominee used the phrase "sexual preference" in answer to one of the senator's questions. Hirono claimed that "anti-LGBTQ activists" employ the phrase to "suggest that sexual orientation is a choice," when in reality it's "a key part of a person's identity." The implication was that if Barrett did not understand that the expression is "offensive and outdated," then she can't possibly rule fairly in cases concerning LGBTQ persons. Within hours, Merriam-Webster's dictionary labeled the use of "preference" as "offensive" when referring to a person's sexual orientation.

California wildfire that killed 4 may have been sparked by power line equipment --The Zogg Fire erupted in Shasta County in September and destroyed over 200 structures | 11 Oct 2020 | Investigators in California probing the cause of a recent wildfire that killed four people have taken possession of equipment belonging to Pacific Gas and Electric, the utility said Friday. In a filing with the California Public Utilities Commission, PG&E said investigators with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire) have taken some of its equipment as part of the ongoing investigation into the Zogg Fire. The Zogg Fire erupted in Shasta County on Sept. 27 as high winds were impacting the region, quickly growing into a blaze that has consumed at least 56,338 acres. The fire killed four people in the community of Igo and later spread into neighboring Tehama County.

Hurricane Delta leaves at least four dead and knocks out power for hundreds of thousands | 12 Oct 2020 | Four people are dead in the aftermath of Hurricane Delta as remnants of the storm brought widespread rain to the US mid-Atlantic and Northeast on Monday. An 86-year-old man died in St. Martin Parish after a fire started as he was fueling a generator in a shed, Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards said Sunday. A 70-year-old woman died in Iberia Parish in a fire likely caused by a natural gas leak following damage from the storm, according to the Louisiana Department of Health... Meanwhile, large numbers of residents in Louisiana, Texas and Mississippi woke up in the dark Monday morning after Delta made landfall in Louisiana as a Category 2 hurricane.
