Niles History Walk and Sign-Clean Up

Time: June 12, 2010 from 7:30am to 10:30am
Location: Meet at Essanay Cafe
Organized By: Bruce Cates

Event Description:
On Saturday June 12th, (Meeting at the Essanay Cafe at 7:30 AM for Free Coffee and Pastry's) the newly formed non-profit organization Local Ecology & Agriculture Fremont (LEAF) is sponsoring with the help and permission of Mr. Faye Louie (Owner of the Niles Sign Property) to lead a caravan of folks up to the Niles Sign (Leaving at approx.8 AM) to clear the brush from around it.

While there, we are hopeful to have a few Historic minded notables give us brief History of the NILES SIGN, what happened in the town of Niles below, and where and what kind of Agriculture took place all around Niles and Fremont.

Shortly afterward (approx. 10:30 AM) we come down form the hill, and LEAF will be holding a "short work in the garden & get to know your LEAF Volunteers event" at the new "Community Garden" at (37753 Niles Blvd. come to the Alley in the back @ Iron Horse Lane, its near the Post Office).

After the clean up some of you may want to attend "LEAF's get to know you Bar-B-que" at LEAF Center at 37753 Niles Blvd. Come in the alley behind and look for the LEAF Sign. LEAF will provide some hot dogs for the Que so if you want something more substantial bring it. This considered a "pot luck" so if you can bring a little dish to share that would be nice.
