Tesla announced today the purchase of the former NUMMI factory in Fremont, California. The Tesla Factory represents virtually a turn-key solution that will help Tesla meet its aggressive production timetable. The proximity of the Tesla Factory to our headquarters in Palo Alto, California, will allow for tight feedback loops between engineering, manufacturing and other divisions within the company. California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger attended today's press conference to celebrate the creation of green jobs in Northern California. Read More.     Akio Toyoda, President of Toyota Motor Company, travelled to Tesla Headquarters to join Tesla CEO Elon Musk for an exciting announcement. Toyota will invest $50 million in Tesla and partner with Tesla to develop electric vehicles, parts, and production. "Toyota would like to learn from the challenging spirit, quick decision-making, and flexibility that Tesla has. Decades ago, Toyota was also born as a venture business. By partnering with Tesla, my hope is that all Toyota employees will recall that 'venture business spirit,' and take on the challenges of the future," said Toyoda. The deal allows Tesla to further the goal of relentlessly driving down the cost of EVs. "It is an honor and a powerful endorsement of our technology that Toyota would choose to invest in and partner with Tesla," said Elon Musk.
