Social and economic justice. Environmental and community health. Good for BOTH people AND planet. That's what we mean when we say green. Our new green grants contest adds another kind of green – a cash prize. A generous Green America donor provided a grant for us to distribute to local green projects. We decided to invite you to help us choose who receives these funds. So, we need your help to find the most noteworthy local green projects around the country that could use a small financial boost to help them meet their green goals. Tell us about an inspiring local-community project that brings together both the people and planet aspects of being green, and the organizing group could win one of four green grants for their project – one top prize of $2,500, and three second prizes of $1,000. Nominate a project to win a green grant » We're really excited about drawing attention to projects that combine social and economic justice with environmental responsibility -- local community efforts that truly define green. Nominate a deserving project today » We'll be collecting nominations until June 7. Of the nominations, we'll select 10 projects for you to vote on in a second round. We'll also list and provide the links to all that are nominated as an honor roll of great green projects, so people all over the country will be able to learn of their work. You'll receive the list of the top-ten nominees in an e-newsletter from us in late June. And please share (via e-mail or Facebook) this invitation for nominations with everyone you know to help us find local projects all across the country that show how green means people and planet. Seeing these projects all in one place will counter the usual depressing headlines. They will provide hope and inspiration to everyone that, together, people everywhere are indeed creating a more just and sustainable world. Thanks for sharing your suggestions with us.
