iHRIS 4.3.NEW INSTALLATION

Hallow Colleagues,

I have been trying to install ihris version 4.3.0 on ubuntu 16.04 LTS, but I had not been successful.Interestingly one colleague had a similar challenge like mine.Still more I have not managed.This is how I configured it and the error received.

Configuration

sudo mkdir -p /var/lib/iHRIS/lib/4.3.0

sudo ln -s /var/lib/iHRIS/lib/4.3.0 /var/lib/iHRIS/lib/4.3

sudo ln -s /home/computer/Documents/Projects/ihris-manage-malawi /var/lib/iHRIS/ihris-manage-malawi

sudo ln -s /var/lib/iHRIS/ihris-manage-malawi/pages/local /var/www/html/ihris

cd /var/lib/iHRIS/lib/4.3.0

sudo wget http://launchpad.net/i2ce/4.3/4.3.0/+download/ihris-suite-4.3.0.tar.bz2

sudo tar -xjf ihris-suite-4.3.0.tar.bz2

Configuration Error

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.Please contact the server administrator at webmaster@localhost to inform them of the time this error occurred, and the actions you performed just before this error.More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Dear Daniel

If you managed to extract this file inside /var/lib/iHRIS/lib/4.3.0

What do you see if you ls -l

if it was successfully

can you try to write localhost/site_name to your web browser

site_name that is set to your config.values.php

Let me know what is the error you are getting....

Hi Daniel,

Am not sure if you installed the supporting software for iHRIS (https://wiki.ihris.org/wiki/Linux_(Ubuntu)_Installation_-_Supporting_Software_-_16.04)

which if you did, I would make sure I only soft link once to the web server. Currently you have two soft links for your site. I would either directly

sudo ln -s /home/computer/Documents/Projects/ihris-manage-malawi /var/www/html/ihris or just copy/move the site files inside of /var/lib/iHRIS/sites/ihris-manage-malawi then do

sudo ln -s /var/lib/iHRIS/sites/ihris-manage-malawi /var/www/html/ihris. (IT is not clear how apache would handle multiple levels of symlinks of the same resource.

Also try to run apache_tail when you access the site and see what error message you get. you should be able to get it running through

php  /var/lib/iHRIS/lib/4.3.0/i2ce/tools/apache_tail.php

Hallow Sovello,

I have tried everything I could,but it is still not working.May be give me the steps how to go about from the beginning.I am using ihris-manage-malawi folder which has configs,css,images,lib,modules,pages,scripts,templetes,tools, and iHRIS-Manage-Malawi.xml and I am connecting it to i2ce through /var/lib/iHRIS/ihris-manage-malawi, that is the reason I have this link sudo ln -s /home/daniel/Documents/Projects/ihris-manage-malawi /var/lib/iHRIS/ihris-manage-malawi

Please help me.

Looking at your code ihris-manage-malawi, it still requires version 4.1 (unless you have upgraded this).

You should go ahead upgrade those requirements and retry.

Best way is create a new branch 4.3 for ihris-manage-malawi so you keep this one intact just in case you may want to go back.
