PAKISTAN | Policing male-dominated society with confidence

There is a great need for a lot more professionalism coming from women themselves. A lot of them are still very immature and are not suited for such a job. Or else they should drop their fragility and try to become more thick skinned.

PAKISTAN | ‘Give safe environment to working women’

The draft of the resolution states that the house appreciates the endeavours of working women, who are contributing to the betterment of Pakistan’s socio-economic life, and shows solidarity with them. The resolution also commended the performance of women in parliament and as parliamentary secretaries.

INDIA | Juvenile homes can't be like prisons: HC panel

The release of the man who as a minor raped Nirbhaya in 2012 has thrown wide open a debate about the juvenile justice system in the country and the reformation process (of juveniles in conflict with the law), parts of which have been termed inadequate by a Madras high court panel in Tamil Nadu.

NEPAL | NEW CONSTITUTION IS INCLUSIVE: CJ SHRESTHA

Chief Justice Kalyan Shrestha expressed sadness over the unexpected problems faced by country after the promulgation of new constitution. He added that country has been forced to suffer a huge economic loss instead of making rapid progress and raising hopes with the new constitution.

AFGHANISTAN | Campaign against land grabbers launched in Nangarhar

The government has kicked off an anti-land grabbing campaign in eastern Nangarhar province on Sunday, local officials said. The campaign is aimed to retake the state-owned lands which were grabbed by some influential people over the past several years.The campaign officially started in Behsud district of the province where a number of illegal buildings constructed on government lands were demolished.

SRI LANKA | YOUTH ALLEGEDLY ABDUCTED IN HIRUNIKA’S DEFENDER: POLICE

A 26-year-old youth employed in a Dematagoda drapery store was abducted in broad daylight by an unidentified gang that came in a Land Rover Defender, which was allegedly owned by Parliamentarian Hirunika Premachandra, Police Spokesman Ruwan Gunasekara said yesterday.

BANGLADESH | A day in the life of a Dhaka jail inmate

It is no less than a living hell to pass days in the Dhaka Central Jail, a former inmate said while sharing his experience. Kabir Hossain (not his real name) served 58 days in the Dhaka Central Jail on charge of sodomy. He, who has very recently been freed, was put in Jamuna cell of the jail. “You have to begin your day with an awful experience as you stand in a queue of over 200 men to respond to the call of nature,” he said.
