To: Radiology PC and TC members, and IHE International Deployment Committees
I am Peter MacIsaac (Secretary of IHE Australia Deployment committee) and working with Chris Lindop who has been our IHE USA, connectathon/showcase and radiology technical liaison.
We are looking for information on current or in progress implementations of IHE profile based infrastructure for
1.
DI referrals/orders/requests (e.g. GP to Radiology Practice) in a
community setting (based on both an exchange, such as using XDW, EBR or XDW-I or point to point business models)
2.
DI image exchange (supporting view of historic or prior images)
in a community setting (basically XDS-1 or XCA-I)
BackgroundThe Australian Digital Health Agency (ADHA) which is responsible for national health IT programs (like the ONC or Canada Health Inforway or equivalent European national agencies) is currently running a process to scope the use cases and functionality for a national approach to DI referrals (from community based practitioners e.g. GPs and specialists) to community based Diagnostic Imaging Services. IHE Australia is one of the stakeholders involved working with local industry professional groups.
There is a national budget allocation to process to implement a demonstration project with expectation of funding for a national system. Naturally IHE Australia on behalf of IHEs business and technical stakeholders would like to see IHE based implementations from the XDS and XCA group of profiles implemented.
IHE Aus is exploring the international experience in delivering these two workflows with the objectives of:
- Identifying examples of these two types of services
- Understanding the extent to which these are based on vendor implementations using IHE profiles, bespoke approaches or a mixture
- Engaging with system or project owners or IT vendors to understand their care study
- Engaging with system or project owners or individual IT vendors to present a demonstration or overview presentation of these systems
Ideally the end result will be a workshop in early 2022 to present the above to the Australian community of interest and ADHA project leadership.
Given the lack of a registry of such projects, we hope to start with networking in IHE Communities and especially input from the vendor community (without whom none of this can happen)
Next StepsPlease reach out to myself and Chris Lindop with what ever information or links available and we will contact you in your timezones business hours to discuss.
When needed:ASAP please for initial contact - even a quick email or txt will help
Kind regards
Peter MacIsaac
