I wasn’t clear in my earlier note.  Sorry.

The approval vote that Andrei is referring to is for approving his document for the last 2024-25 cycle.  It is a document we worked on in the 2025 face-to-face meetings, but it is just being completed now.

So, this is not a profile proposal that you are now soliciting for the upcoming 2025-26 cycle.

The ‘approval’ / ‘disapproval’ that Andrei references in his email below is actually a formal vote of IHE RAD Tech to “Approve the XC-WADO Profile for Trial Implementation”.   

That means that you will need to what you normally do to record/track the votes of the members and ensure we have quorum.    More typically, we would do this in a face-to-face meeting or on a t-con.

Hello, for our discussion tomorrow, here is the document's updated version and the latest tracking spreadsheet containing consolidated responses from Public Comment and those received after the first off-line review.

 

Based on the comments received, there are contrary opinions on the following aspects of this profile, which we need to reconcile:

1. Access to rendered instances. Should the cross-gateway rendered instance retrieval be prohibited? Is RIG required to pass the URL parameters it receives from IIG as is, or should it decide based on what it knows about the Imaging Document Sources in its community?
2. Retrieval of studies/series rather than single instances. Is it at the discretion of the Imaging Document Consumer? If so, is it up to Imaging Document Source or a Responding Imaging Gateway to assure that only “published” instances are included, or is it simply a discretion of the Imaging Document Source but not a requirement?
3. The Retrieve URL from the manifest should be included in the WADO URI, traversing the cross-community. This was not requested initially. Is it necessary? What if it is NOT a WADO-RS URL? What are the requirements for RIG to use this URL vs the RAD-107 URL that is constructed as defined in the profile? Presumably, the Retrieve URL allows the RIG to retrieve directly from the Imaging Document Source – OR should it pass it to the Document Source as is so that it can use it to retrieve from non-WADO location?
4. If transferring the Retrieve URL is required, should it be %-encoded and included in the URI, or should it be included in the HTTP header?

Most items left as TODO are related to the resolution of the above four items.

Did you try downloading the document from google drive as a .docx file?  If I do that and open the document stored on my Mac, the figures display correctly.    

 

For IHE TF documents, google drive is never intended as an editing or viewing tool, rather as a storage and exchange mechanism, similar when IHE used the FTP site.

I have a preliminary version of most changes to the XC-WADO (a.k.a XC-WIA) for review in the upcoming t-con on April 30^th. Because the changes are so extensive, I have accepted all the changes to facilitate reading.

I suggest that if you plan to attend the T-con, you review this document and see if your comments are addressed satisfactorily. It is possible that some are not yet addressed as I have 16 TODO items and 7 for Discussion as of today. I will be making some changes in the coming days, but majority of changes are in place. Please ignore typos and misspellings.

Hi, Charles. Yes, the updated document will be available on April 23^rd… We will send information about its location that day.

I suggest that MCWG reviewers verify that their public comment comments are addressed satisfactorily. If not, I suggest that any comments/suggestions be sent to the technical committee mailing list with reference to the public comment spreadsheet line number (because the new document line numbers will be different). The link to that spreadsheet will also be sent out on the 23^rd.

 

To answer the question about IDR - public comments have been resolved, but before it is published for TI, it needs to be converted to FHIR IG format.   We anticipate the IDR IG to be published by the end of June.

The MCWG participants have a couple questions as they are getting ready to review this April 2123^rd version and prepare for the April 30^th IHE Rad T-con:

• Ask XC-WADO editor on the format of the feedback from the April 23^rd version. This seems important to przepare the April 30^th t-(con.
• On a different topic, what is the progress of the IHE IRD (imaging report in FHIR). There was a TI late 2024.  Have the comments been resolved, is there a current draft ?  What is the plan ?

On behalf of MCWG I would like to thank you very much for the huge work you have accomplished as editor of XC-WADO.

 

MCWG met today and we have two questions so that the answer will allow us to schedule the MCWG Recommendation specification work on image access transactions in a cross-community setting.

Indeed, we need to have a sense of the schedule IHE Rad is following.

Two questions in particular:

1. When can we have access to a draft of the XC-WADO TI Text that folds the resolved comments based on IHE RAD Tech decision from last week (even in a working form) ?
2. When is the XC-WADO profile TI version expected to be approved by IHE RAD as Trail Implementation (we are not asking for a publication date) ?

 

Any intermediate milestone that could help us organize our work to proceed in parallel with IHE RAD Tech would be great.
