Hi,

is there a prescribed way to indicate that data has been omitted from a CCD due to a privacy assertion?

e.g. a sever allergy to an anti-psychotic drug

It seems potentially very risky to omit such information, though it is entirely possible through asserting information type privacy, that this information should not be divulged without some sort of break the seal being enabled.

cheers
Matt

Hi Matt,

I'd probably use nullFlavor="MSK" in place of the identifiable code, such as:

   <substanceAdministration>

         <code nullFlavor="MSK"/>

   </substanceAdministration>

Of course I left out some required detail in the substanceAdministration structure, but this was quick and dirty...

The CDA standard seems to support the use of MSK for this:

"There is information on this item available but it has not been provided by the sender due to security, privacy or other reasons. There may be an alternate mechanism for gaining access to this information.Note: using this null flavor does provide information that may be a breach of confidentiality, even though no detail data is provided. Its primary purpose is for those circumstances where it is necessary to inform the receiver that the information does exist without providing any detail."
