Thanks Charles for your mail that summarize the work we are doing on the PCC-ITI domain about the Workflow Definition Profiles and for your suggestions.
As you noticed the structure of the Cross-Enterprise Screening Mammography Workflow White Paper is different from the structure on which are based the other Workflow Definition Profiles but this thing is been wanted.
In this first phase of the white paper we focused in gathering more cases possible from the world and all data to structure the different experiences in a same template (it was very important for us understand how the mammography screening is performed in the different countries to try to define the rules for this type of workflow)
We obtained questionnaire responses from France, Ontario and obviously from Italy (I hoped to have some return also from some part of the USA). All these data allowed us to structure three different complete use cases.
This White Paper seems to walk on separate paths from the general scheduling but at the same time we are making an effort to fulfill requests and RAD deadline so now, in this first phase, it is very important for us that the contents are shared and approved from RAD commission and in the second phase, from June, we are going to work on the structure of the white paper to trasform it in a Workflow Definition Profile in according with the structure defined by the PCC.
Do you agree on these steps?

Arianna

IHE Rad folks,

IHE PCC is driving the development of three Workflow Definition Profiles that are XDW-based, and are planned to go to public comment within a week.

In that process, they have identified a number of best practice in the documentation style for Workflow Definitions.

I tried to help in harvesting best practices during the face to face meetings picking form their drafts, but also from the Rad Domain Mammography Workflow white paper as it stood late April.

There had been numerous restructuring to make sure that the Volume 1 looked like the user view of a workflow definition and that XDW related specifications, XDW document evolution, XDS transactions, were moved to Volume 2.  It also revealed that a Workflow Definition Profile needs to be very different from an Integration profile, a content profile, a security/privacy profile.

This message is to encourage IHE Rad to keep track of the path opened by IHE PCC with the support of IHE ITI.  We would like to have you align on these best practices.  Try them out.  They may not be perfect, but by using them we trust that you will find suggestions for further improvement.  Such suggestions will be easy to absorb by PCC during Public Comment between June 1st and July 1st.  So your feedback is very important, because in return we would like to ask you follow the same style in your white paper and when you transform the white paper in a Radiology Domain Workflow Definition Profile.

I have been helping with the friends from Arzenal-IT (Arianna Cocchiglia, Francesca Vanzo) and would be happy to join the T-con on June 1st to answer any question or concerns.

I am sure that Francesca and Arianna have taken on to align the latest draft of the Mammo workflow definition white paper, so please do not shoot them, if you are surprised by these changes in styles.

Charles

Yes Charles,
perfect I agree with you that in the tcon on June 1st it will be possible also schedule the next steps to develop the White Paper.

Thanks
Arianna

Arianna,

I am happy with the approach, as long as it is understood by IHE Rad Committee.

I suppose that the point can be made and agreed on June 1st, to issue the white paper for public comment, while starting the development of a WD profile.

Charles
