Dear All

we have now reach our last connectathon day, and I would like to thank you all for your good and cooperative work.

Your feedback is very important and we like you to provide give to us through the following form :

The gazelle server will be shutdown at 12:00 today and will then be available at the URL later today.

Today lunch is served, there is no table order. You can go as you want.

Package pick-up. If you leave your boxes to be pick-up by a transporter, tell the transporter the pick-up hours of the hotel are : 7:00am to 11:00am

I understand that air-traffic is highly disturbed because of the cloud from the volcano. I hope you will find a safe way back home.

Thanks a lot.

My bad,

Will the first North American home send a gloating email to the list?
I don't think I want to hear from the last one.

Poker party at 15:00 in CDG every day until we are all dispersed.

After a long train journey and a very cold wait in line for a ferry
ticket, we got home at 4:30 this morning.
Good luck everyone.

Hello,

after a road trip lasting 17 hours and using 5 different cars (and a
train) I am at home in Munich :-D Thanks to my colleagues and greetings
to all IHE participants. And I am curious to hear exciting stories, how
you came home :-)

I wish all a good journey home,

Hey all,

reading the first "returners" mails (and considering the small amount of responses so far) I guess I can call myself lucky. In a joint road trip of two monitors and the two developers of Topicus we arrived at Munich this morning at about 6 a.m. (starting from Bordeaux airport at about 2p.m).

Lucky us...Europcar still had a car left :)

Safe journey home to all of you still out there!

We also had to get a Car from Bordeaux to Munich and afterwards with
the Train to Austria.

Hi@all

We (3 Swiss monitors) took the regular flight on friday evening from Bordeaux to Geneva and came home as planned and just in time!
It seems to me that we are very lucky people.
Looking forwards to see you again in Pisa next year!

We've just made it back to Britain...took TGV to Paris and somehow managed to get seats on Eurostar train through the tunnel.  Still another 6 hours to get home (via airport to pick up the car) but past the worst.  Amazingly, they are telling everyone in Paris that the trains are full, and turning people away, but this one is 20% empty!

You are lucky guy.
I (INFINITT, Korea) am still stucking in Bordeaux. Because my flight is actually on tomorrow but it canceled. Now I lost my way back home.
Maybe I should move to another region to take off this land.
Everybody Bon Voyage.

Thanks

I made is as far as Paris with a rebooked flight on tuesday. The Bordeaux - Paris train on friday evening was full. But was told to wait at the train to see if there was room. I was joined by quite a few people. We were all let on. My server was a bit combersome, but i managed.

After fetching one of the last rental cars we made it in 13 hours from
Bordeaux to Strasbourg where we parked our car the week before. We did
meet some other Connect-A-Thon participant on the highway. :-)

I (INFINITT, Korea) am heading for Paris by TGV even there is no flight.
My travel agency give me a flight schedule, ATHENS to DUBAI to SEOUL, but they give me no assurance because they can't check those airports are available.
And how can I go to Athens by what?? Who knows about it? By train? By bus?

Thanks.

Ben,

Being from the US I hesitate to give anyone travel advice in Europe, but it looks like rail to southern Italy and then a Ferry to Greece and rail or bus to Athens would get the job done. I think rail the whole way would take longer although it might be simpler.

Hi Ben,

The best thing I can suggest is to take the train in Paris to Brindisi in Italy. There is then a boat that runs to Athens I think or at least to Greece.

I have posted the link below.

http://www.raileurope-world.com/spip.php?page=sales&re_domain=ptp&re_oper=results

It takes about 20 hours and costs €183.00 hope this helps.

Let me know if you need more information.

Good luck

Everybody Thank you.
I've arrived in Paris few hours ago after waiting my TGV for few hours.
Now, I unpacked (actually it's still packed) my luggage.
These information to Athens are really good for me.
Actually I hope airport status turns into good way and I never go to Athens.
But, If there is a need to go, your informations are very helpful.
Thanks everybody for thinking of me.
Bon Voyage.

Thanks.
Ben.

Hi all,

After all these reports, I realize we had a rather smooth way back
home: the 4 of us were lucky enough to get a car at Hertz and drive
back home to Utrecht (NL) in about 14 hours.
I am sorry for all of you that are still stuck in an airport or train
station waiting for a way home. Good luck!

Kind regards,

( P.S. for Ben:
these italian airports are closed until tomorrow: Albenga, Ancona, Bergamo, Bologna, Bolzano, Brescia, Cuneo, Firenze, Forlì, Genova, Milano Linate, Milano Malpensa, Parma, Pisa, Rimini, Torino, Treviso, Trieste, Venezia, Verona.
If you have to get to Brindisi... I hope that airports of southern Italy will be open! here the website of italian civil aviation authorithy where I think you'll find some useful information about italian airports, if you are in need: http://www.enac-italia.it/Servizio/Info_in_English/index.html.

Hi,
Arsenàl.IT team got safely back home by car.
Our flight on saturday morning has been cancelled and so we rent a car (the last s.w. available!).
We left Bordeaux on Saturday morning at 11.00 a.m. and we arrived home at about 02.00 a.m. on Sunday.
I think that it has been a good compromise.
The journey was fine, but, in my opinion, too many toll gates!!!
Good Luck to the ones that are still stuck around Europe and enjoy the monday of work to all the others!
Bye.

Hello to all who have made it home. I went to the Bordeaux airport this morning because it showed my flight to Amsterdam was still departing, but of course, it was not and the soonest they think I can depart is--maybe--this Sat 24 April.
I may now really have to set up a HIMSS office here, well just for this week perhaps!

Love hearing all of these stories - if anyone else is still in Bordeaux, let me know and we can get together for a beer later!

Need a t-shirt for next year that shows some of the wild travels that people have had to take.

Best, Lisa

Dear All,

Just a note from the Dutch "iSOFT XDS Tiger Team" on our travel from
Bordeaux to Pays-Bas.

Flight for Friday afternoon was cancelled. Asked hotel receptionist to
make reservations for a rental car. Got a nice VW Golf by Europcar
from depot at St Jean train station. Travelled home comfortably with
cruise control at 135 km/h in 10 hours. Arrived at 2:00 am, only 2
hours after scheduled arrival by plane.

Best of luck to all still stuck in France and hope to meet y'all again
next year!

Hi,

I took a private bus. After about 24h of driving we were at home.

For all who are still in Bordeaux. As an alternative to the train,
airport or cars ... In the opposite of the train station in Bordeaux
there's a "Eurolines" store where you can buy bus tickets.

Best regards
Michael

I think I am. I walked into the Delta Club in Atlanta and they looked
at me as if I came from the twilight zone. The reception pulled up a
screen and showed me that every other flight was still cancelled coming
in from Europe.

Hi, I'm back!!! Here Korea.
I didn't get to Athens, and stayed in Paris for two more days.
Yesterday morning, my travel agency sent me a message urgently, sky is open and they can't make a rebooking.
So they suggested me to go to the airport as soon as possible and check if I can take a flight using waiting list.
At that time was 0400, I've moved to the airport and make me on a waiting list.
Finally, after waiting 10hours, I've taken my flight that is only one of heading for asia.

Now. I'm sweet home. Everybody i'm appreciating it especially Dave, Paula, Andrea and Niall.
Thank you.

I hope to see you next year with a success story.

Best regards.
Ben.
