Peter,

Thanks for your reply and to Chris for providing a synopsis of the
Board's activities. Here is what I have from the draft Board minutes:

Board recommends that IHE Australia be encouraged to proceed with
testing event and agrees that it can refer to it as a Connectathon;
additional advice:
(a) While the organizers are welcome to recruit vendors from around
their region (in fact worldwide), they should not imply that there is
any regional IHE body sanctioning the event
(b) Organizers should adhere to standard practices for Connectathons
as far as possible
(c) Depending on the scope of applicants to participate in the event,
organizers should retain appropriate professional project managers to
organize and oversee testing; they will not be able to rely on free
support from project managers in North America and Europe
(d) IHE Testing and Tools will be asked to review information
provided by the organizers leading up to and following the event and to
make a decision as to whether the event's results will be included in
the published table of Connectathon events

I would further recommend that you complete the remaining formalities
(if you haven't yet) so that the Board can recognize IHE Australia
officially. Making contact with potential sponsors in New Zealand and
Malaysia would also be a positive step. I have been in contact briefly
with Malcolm Pollock and Martin Brendling in New Zealand; I don't have
any direct contacts in Malaysia, so your help there would be appreciated.

My final, perhaps unnecessary, caution is that you really need to secure
project management resources adequate to the scope of the testing event
you are planning. In some degree, as you have said, this will depend on
how much response you get from industry. Our current lineup of project
managers are stretched between Connectathons and tool development and
won't be able to provide much if any support. Adding to the available
pool of knowledgeable project managers is one of the most important
contributions a national deployment group can make.

So, if you will draft a brief paragraph for me, ending with a pointer to
your Web page for more information, I will post it to our ihenews list.

Thanks again for your persistence. I am sorry for delaying your progress.

Best,
Chris
