IGV support for BAM/CRAM files in Azure cloud storage?

are there any plans for IGV to support direct access of BAM/CRAM files in Azure -- ie similar to how it works for GCS, and (afaik) S3?  would such support first be contingent upon new functionality in htslib?

Well, I don't have any access to Azure so this isn't likely to happen unless the htsjdk supports it.  Note that htsjdk is a different library than htslib.   You might post a query on there issue forum.  https://github.com/samtools/htsjdk/issues

ok, thanks for that info Jim, I have just posted an issue to the htsjdk repo.  

If I could get you access to Azure would that help? would you be interested?

Yes I would be interested in at least investigating it.    The Amazon support is somewhat complex,  Google gs:// urls are trivial,   hopeful Azure is more like Google than Amazon.
