Hello,
I am unable to open IGV on my computer. I have tried different version of the IGV Mac App (IGV_2.3.98, IGV_2.5.3, IGV_2.6.0) with different iterations of Java (8, 9 and 11) but none of these combinations work. In all cases, the IGV App appears in my dock and disappears within seconds. I tried to run IGV from the command line and got the exception handler error below. From googling, it doesn't seem like this java issue is unique but the solutions offered on the other threads did not work for me. I would appreciate your input and would suggest adding a section about how to solve this in the readme. Many thanks!!

This is the first report of this we have received,  and I can't reproduce it.   What version of Mac OS are you running?

I did a little web searching, and probably found the same links you did.  It looks like this error might be caused from either a hardware / Java compatibility with you Mac, or a faulty graphics card.   Are you using an external monitor, in particular with DisplayLink and/or a docking station?

James, you are a wizard! Yes I am using a docking station with external monitors and guess what? When I disconnect my laptop from the external displays, IGV was able to launch properly. That is so strange. Do you think there is a workaround to that?
I am using MacOS Mojave.

Thank you! At least I can disconnect, launch it and re-connect it again :)

I'm no expert on this,  it seems to be a general problem with Java and DisplayLink.    Sorry I can't be more helpful,  you might try some Mac forums.

I also use an external display, but I use the mac mini display port,  you might try connecting the display directly to the mac (not through the docking station).
