Hello,

I am trying to load tracks hosted on a Gandi server and I am receiving this error:

My browser can access the URL no problem. It seems to only be happening for the index files. I can load the indices in desktop IGV without a problem. Any thoughts about what I am doing wrong.

Thanks,
Matt

Sorry I don't know what "Gandi.net" is either, and a web search didn't help.  I'm not sure there is an IGV issue here, without more information I really can't help you.   Some screenshots might help.

Hi James,

I am using Gandi for webhosting:

image.png

The files I am trying to access with IGV are hosted on my website that is setup through Gandi. For example here is one of the index files:

I can open this with my browser, but when I try to access this file with the Gandi WepApp I get the status 0 error.

Thanks for your help with this!
-Matt

Thanks,
Matt

OK,   my strong suspicion here is Gandi.net does not meet the requirements for host data for javascript access,  which is described here:  https://github.com/igvteam/igv.js/wiki/Data-Server-Requirements.   In particular, given what you've told me,  I am guessing the server is not including CORS headers.    The instructions linked above describes setting these headers for Amazon AWS.   Many hosting services, such as Dropbox and Google set these for you automatically, but they have to be configured for AWS, and potentially for Gandi.   So I think that's where the issue is,  you can investigate if Gandi has options for CORS (Cross Origin Resource Sharing),  if they do not there is no way around this problem.    It does not affect IGV desktop because CORS is enforced by the Browser.   It also does not affect direct access in the browser address bar, CORS only applies to scripted access (i.e. javascript => igv web).

Thanks! That makes sense. Thank you for the link. I will contact the technical support at Gandi and see if we can get this set up.

I appreciate you help with this,
Matt
