Desktop app load. network file using html link

Hello,

Is it possible to load a network BAM file into the IGV desktop app using an HTML link?  Provided the user has access to the network drive/file?

ex: 

http://localhost:60151/load?file=http://my.local.network/igvdata/annotations/hg19/bam_files/shared_bam.bam&locus=egfr&genome=hg18

Or is there a workaround if not possible that way?  Host an internal http server?

Yes that is certainly possible.

However I don't understand the question re "Host an internal http server".   The URL to your bam implies an http server as it specifies an http: protocol.   If you want to access a file directly just use the absolute path to the file

Confirmed it works.  Had some issues opening but was a typo in the directory name.  Thanks for your help.  -Dan
