How can I eliminate duplicates in IGV in 2.17.4 version?

If the reads are flagged as duplicate in the BAM file you can filter them out from the IGV view by making sure the "Filter duplicate reads" is set in View > Preferences > Alignments.

When you change the value of that preference, you may have to select File > Reload Tracks to see the effect on already loaded tracks.
