Hi,

I am using html link in excel sheets for biologist to directly see the alignment with IGV.

So far I used a link that upload bam files and bed files with merge=false at the end which makes IGV to ask if we want to unload previous session and if we say no, add new bam to the current session.

So basically it works and behaves as expected.

My only problem is the length of the hyperlink. Trying to implement it for Excel 2007, xlsx don’t accept links with a size over 256 characters.

I am now trying to load xml files with the given links to the bam and bed files (session file). If I put a merge = false the previous session is erased and replaced with the new data. If I put merge = true the session is added and I end up with several track being the same. If I click twice on the link I have twice the bam file and duplication of all the bed files.

Is there a way with session file to avoid this duplication behavior and get the same behavior than with uploading bam files ?

Cheers

Unfortunately there is not.  However, why not provide 2 links,  one to load the file and one to go to a new location without loading files.   Would that work for your use case?

Hi Jim,

Can you please let me know how to achieve what you mentioned in the above email?

I have some https links, but each time a locus is linked/ opened it opens up a new jnlp session, even with merge=true option.

Thanks,

Aparna
