Dear all,
This is a reminder that the process to submit event proposals for the 8th edition of the GeoNight will end on the 5th of February.
In order to submit an event proposal, you can fill out the following form until the 5th of February: https://www.geonight.net/propose-an-event-for-the-2024-geonight-edition/
We are experimenting this year with two possible dates to organise events: April 5th or April 12th. You then have the choice to pick the most suitable date according to your agenda.

Nous expérimentons cette année en proposant deux dates d'évènement, les vendredis 5 avril ou 12 avril. Choisissez la date la plus appropriée au vu de votre calendrier scolaire et universitaire.

Dear colleagues,
As it has become a yearly tradition, we are contacting regarding the newest edition of the GeoNight. For this eighth edition, the organizing committee has decided to propose two possible dates for organizing events. Hence, for the 2024 edition, events could take place on either Friday, April 5th or Friday, April 12th.
This year marks the 8th edition of the “Nuit de la Géographie/GeoNight”, which was initially launched in 2017 by the CNFG and rapidly supported and promoted by EUGEO and IGU. Over the years, new countries have joined the adventure and hundreds of events have been organised worldwide to promote geography and geographers to so many people.
Remember that the main goal of GeoNight's events are to promote geography and geographers to the general public (and not only academics) one night/evening a year simultaneously around the world. These events can be either organised in person or online. In case you decide to organise events online, various activities could be considered such as: lectures, podcasts, posters/photos competition, virtual urban walks (using Google Street View, for instance), quizzes (using a video-conference platform), amongst others. Just be creative, as always!
A few years ago, the Italian Association of Geographers put together a website ( http://www.geonight.net/ - have a look at last year's events) which gathers information on the events organised as well as the key principles of the GeoNight. For this year, we are naturally going to use that platform again.

Chères et chers collègues,
Le CNFG, en partenariat avec l’EUGEO et l’UGI, est heureux de vous annoncer que la huitième édition de la Nuit de la Géographie / GeoNight se déroulera, au choix, le vendredi 5 avril ou le vendredi 12 avril 2024. Nous espérons que cette expérimentation dans le choix de deux dates possibles permettra d'organiser le plus d'évènements possibles tout en évitant certaines contraintes calendaires (par exemple, les vacances scolaires).
Lancée en 2017 à l’initiative du CNFG, la Nuit de la Géographie est rapidement devenue un évènement international visant à promouvoir, auprès du grand public, la discipline géographique. Ces évènements ont pour but de mettre en valeur la géographie et les géographes, permettre au grand public de se familiariser avec les concepts et les étude géographiques, et à rendre la recherche géographique plus accessible. Les manifestations proposées doivent, dans la mesure du possible, être gratuites et ouvertes au public.
Lors de la précédente édition, plus d'une trentaine de pays et plusieurs dizaines de milliers de personnes ont participé à la Nuit de Géographie / GeoNight en avril 2023.
