DCS Spatial Services has recently secured whole-of-government access and distribution rights for two new
data sets. Geoscape building footprint and
trees coverage datasets have been procured for distribution exclusively to NSW State and Local Government.
This is an exciting opportunity for NSW Government agencies to access this data through DCS Spatial Services at no cost. The data is subject to terms of use with restricted
application, which must be accepted prior to supply.
Geoscape provides formatted spatial data that describes the addresses, land, buildings and transport networks across Australia’s complex cities, regional centres and rural
communities which enables a range of applications. DCS Spatial Services is currently accessing the new data to develop 3D visualisation used in innovative programs such as Live NSW and the Spatial Digital Twin.
Geoscape datasets available for NSW:
·
Building footprint: Format - Geodatabase
(GDB) and Shapefile (SHP)
·
Tree coverage: Format - GeoTiff
The files available are dated September 2022 and it is anticipated that a three-monthly update will be made available over the next two years. All three are full state
datasets, with the building footprint SHP file only available as an LGA area supply.
