Why the images in some skins are not shown?

Hi, I noticed that a few skins, including mine (Vicious V), won't load
their images, and it seems that the URLs are pointing to the root of
iGoogle, instead of "http://igskins.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/
skins/...", I tried changing the url to /image.gif instead of just the
filename, but it doesn't work even on test mode.

Another skin with the same problem is called "Simplicity", and another
one I don't remember.

Just curious, sorry if my post is in the wrong place.

Hi hi

Good question. The CSS file should always contain absolute URLs. I
tested your skin in test mode and it worked just fine. When I
published it and tested it the problem you speak of was apparent but
I've not got round to investigating. I'll take a peek and see if I can
see the problem but certainly absolute URLs are required.

I'll get back to you shortly.

Hi Verlier,
Thanks for saying something about this - I thought maybe it was just
me :) Those skins do not load their images for me either. "Europe"
is another skin that has problems with the image loading. Thanks for
checking on this, Bonstio!

Hi again,

Yes it is definitely a problem with the urls in the css files. To
clarify such urls should always be absolute (http://mydomain.com/
images/image.jpg") and not relative ("image.jpg", "/image.jpg", etc)

I will contact the authors and ask them to change. The reason why this
is a problem I believe is when the skin is being developed (i.e. in
testing mode) a url relative to the css file is OK as the css is not
being cached. When in the directory, the skin is cached so it's url
changes to a Google one, thus breaking the relative urls.

Hope this clears things up. If you spot any more problems like this,
please do shout. Thanks for alerting us all to this problem!
