Can anyone give me idea about presentation? What should we include in it?

Lata,

What I have done, more or less, is to have a .ppt with the same sections as the Synopsis.  That basically includes the following content slides:

• Introduction to the topic of research
• Objectives of Research
• Relevance of the Research
• Background Information
• Brief mention of the current literature
• Reference to existing studies etc
• Research Methodology
• Whether you plan to conduct a survey
• Statistical Analysis (if you plan to use any)
• Analysis 
• The actual analysis of data.  ( This may or may not be relevant to you depending on your topic and discipline)
• Predicting the accuracy of Results
• Predicting the accuracy of the results using some statistical model  ( may or may not be relevant to you...)
• Reporting
• References

This is how it looks relevant to my topic of research which is more of an inter-disciplinary research across management and computer engineering disciplines. Hope, I was able to give you a general idea.

not sure if this is relevant but yesterday they were even asking us in the interview as to what is "new" about our research/topic.

also , in case you ahve already submitted your synopsis and now when you are reading it before the interview day , you may find you have made certain mistakes/errors. point them out in front of the committee before they can point it out and question you.

A very good question that could come up.  I am sure we should anticipate many more questions like this and be prepared.  

However, the presentation should be structured and generic, right.  Out of that, let the panelists enjoy some spontaneity :-)!!

I think a .ppt is a great idea and the outline provided by you is wonderful Sree.  I would like to add - what is novel or new about this area of research - which probably needs to be established and will make the job of the panel easy.

If it is not novel or new, they may tend to give it a lower priority - what says you?

That point definitely needs to be addressed.  Think this could be introduced between 2 and 4.

I think it was from Jayasree Bibi that I heard that the typical duration of the .ppt is around 20 minutes.
