Friends,

Based on an update from Jayasree Bibi who attended the interview, please note the following:

Typical time limit for the presentation - 20 minutes
It is advisable to have your .ppt ready with you - will help you crystalize your thoughts for a confident presentation.
Highlight the problem statement, objectives and methodology
There were 7 members in the panel including external experts
Conference room is already arranged for the participants including laptop projector etc.
The focus of discussion will be the research topic. Not a question-answer kind of session.
The panelists take it as an opportunity to improving your study and provide open feedback.
The panel provides candid feedback - positive or negative. Negative feedback will typically result in a rejection.

Jayasree: Really grateful for such detailed input. I am sure this will benefit all the members prepare well for the interview and presentation.

i did't attend the interview,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,but it is clear that,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,interview must be in ignou regional centre,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,i.e. maidan garhi,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,(it is nearby saket)

no one from mgmt. discipline has received any communication regarding interview or ppt so far... mgt. is the biggest of all disciplines (over 300 students)
therefore, i think, taking so long to process...

hope we get to hear something from the School of Mgmt. Studies IGNOU by the first week of Nov. 12.

You guys must go to the Main Campus of Ignou. Talk with the concern person and if possible talk with the register that what is happening in PHD. Because the course duration is very long.

Well folks, one day I spoke to the professor incharge about my application for Ph.D in Management. He had gone through my application but said that there was only one slot in Operations. He was not going to take any candidate since he has reached the limit of 8 scholars. He said he has already shortlisted 2 or 3 other persons for Interview. It left me red-faced and surprised.

In all I must have made close to 100 calls to IGNOU - got through about 20 calls and could speak - got my application "identified" and also got feedback. They neither have many professors having "slots" to take students and if at all, they have too many applications chasing them - hence it is a difficult call for them.

I've hence gained admission into some other University and am on the verge of taking up the Ph.D work.

If you've not heard from IGNOU till now, my advise is for you gentlemen/ladies to look elsewhere or go personally and meet up the academicians at IGNOU - especially Professor Bhasak and understand what happened to your application.

Unless you've already secured admission elsewhere.

My Synopsis Presentation was in the month of November and it is registered in January cycle.

I got provisional letter from IGNOU 15 days back and yesterday I got RDC Enrollment Letter.

Can I know your concern please?

I cleared NET JRF twice, I know it is not the criteria to clear it twice but I cleared two simultaneously and done M.Phil from Kurukshetra University

May be this is the criteria of IGNOU where I got letter of presentation and then process completed

I do not have exact information about distance education but recently I came to know about distance education that these degrees are not of any use and they are not considered for Govt Job

I too applied for PhD in Management on 05.09.2013 for January, 2013 cycle, but could not able to get any respond from them. I believe that I am fully eligible for the course being MBA, MPhil and also NET in Management. Still it is wondering me about their process of selection that's all. May I know about your topic of the research? My topic was also very unique, maiden and virgin. Anyway, again congratulation to you and God bless you.

Obviously! Why not? I have done my M.Com from A.M.U. and M.B.A. – HRM from IGNOU. As you told that in Govt. job distance mode qualification is not considered if this is right then what about IGNOU?

IGNOU has international horizon so I mean to say those who are doing it from Private University like Singahnia Univ, Manav Bharti University, Vinayaka Mission etc,,, they are not having value in Govt Job. IGNOU is one of the biggest University given a status of Central University so degrees are well considered not only in India but globally
