Natasha,

I do not think so.  The test is introduced in English even in the non-entrance category.  From other posts, I understand that it is introduced recently with an objective of screening candidates for their proficiency in English.

You could try out the previous posts at https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups#!forum/ignouphd for information posted earlier.  I am sure it would be of help.

best regards,

Well, in that case, why did the official to whom I submitted my application form wrote " entrance test exempted" on top of it ? He belonged to the research unit and not the english deptt. also, i am finding it confusing as to how a presentation can be clubbed with an interview? will there be a presentattion followed by an interview ? if so the time limt of the first is 20 mins or including both is 20?

Natasha,

I do not have answers to all of your questions.  Let us wait to hear from others who are better informed.
