Hi all - spoke to prof Basak who is the coordinator for management and he mentioned that the candidates would be called only in january next year. Does anyone know candidates from last year and dates for 2012 session.

hi all,

 

taccording to me the whole admission process seems to be doubtful specially in case of PhD in Management.

• first of all they do not have any enterance test in the PhD - Management.
• then just few days before the last date of application the university came up with Corrigendum on the website that the eligibility crieteria has been
  changed stating that now a candidate needs to be 5 yrs experience or M.Phil to apply. (although this was an important document but still it does'nt have any date on it....)
• since i do not fall into both of the criteria and have already applied hence i called them and asked about the status of my application, and do not recieved any satisfactory response.
• later, while surfing the website i found my name in the list of the selected candidates who are supposed to be called for interview. (happy and surprised!!!)
• and now, while all of us are waiting for the interview call this information is being given that the university will start the process of interview in jan then when will IGNOU start with the session, since this is a january - 2013 cycle session...
• without ending up the whole process the university has removed the list of selected candidates to be called for the interview from its website. despite the fact that we have not recieved any individual mails regarding our selection and all other related document like advertisement, syllabus, etc are still on the website.  also the corrigendum is being removed from their website...

i am unable to undertand the facts....although my mind can't help guessing....

Swati,

I was just checking the M.Phil/Ph.D prospectus and looks like the qualification criteria is already mentioned there.  I have attached the relevant page.

• The list in the website is still available; do follow this link:   http://www.ignou.ac.in/upload/Aplication%20Forms_January%202013%20Cycle_Entrance%20Exam_27.09.2012.xls
• The list provides only the list of people whose application was forwarded to the schools.  These people are NOT selected for interview.  The school is yet to revert on the people who will be called for interview.

• The interview call is an individual communication it seems.  They will contact us through email is what I understood from others.  
• Since this is a January session, I think they will finalize the applications only in January.   See this across other Universities and Institutions as well.  For instance, applications for the December sessions are getting finalized only by the end of second week of the month.

I am also concerned about the delay in the interview call for the Management discipline.  The delay really brings up doubts whether we miss something !  It would be great if someone who reside close to the university can get more details.

Dear Shane,

Thanks for that credible update.  I'm also sure that this will happen albeit a little late.

I feel that if there is better coordination between RU and the Management School, it will get done faster.

I think it may be good for the students whose names have been published in the list, that they prepare with a .ppt and other particulars.  If some do not have their Synopsis 3000-5000 words, they need to get it going now.

My two pence.

Hi everyone..

Since in all other streams the no. of applicants is very less therefore, the process of calling them for personal interactions, presentation or interview would have been easy... where as in case of Management... the list sent to Mgt School comprises of over 300 applicants.... i am sure... it would take some time to scrutinize these many applications, especially, in the abscence of any qualifying cirteria.

Also, it seems like an uphill task to shortlist people for interviews because some have submitted synopsis with the applications form as well as recommendation of the supervisors and others may just have submitted their project title only without any recommendation of supervisors.... and some other may even submit it in due course of time... so the managmenet school seems to be playing on a really sticky wicket...

I hope someone from the IGNOU is reading these mails and astutely plans further course of action in this regard...

till than lets hope for the best... and start depending on our respective luck/fate rather than the admission process ...

I also was directed to speak to Prof.  Bhasak and he told me that 300 applications have been received.  

1)  They''ll start review after Diwali holidays

2)  Out of 300 applications, they may call a much smaller number for Interview.  They will shortlist and get in touch with only those who are shortlisted.

3)  They'll notify candidates individually by email - only those selected

4)  There is no need to send additional information at this stage or so he says.

5)  Around mid-December they'll be ready with the shortlist if everything goes well

I wish each one of you all the very best.   Please update this forum once you get a call for Interview  so that those not notified will know that they've not been called.
