I'm pleased to announce that the Ignite Portland 2 presentation proposal
process is over and the selection committee's tough job begins. We
received an astounding 54 proposals. The submitters clearly put a great
deal of thought into describing themselves and talks, so it's going to
be tough having to choose speakers from this fine selection.

At 12:01 on the 16th, I disabled the proposal's site ability to create
new entries. One submitter got an entry in literally seconds before I
did that. Now that it's no longer accepting submissions, if someone
tries to go to the form, it'll kick them back to the list of proposals
with a helpful explanation, so there's no way to add new entries. I've
also edited the front page to explain the situation and taken the
"submit a talk" link out. If you want to change the text, login as
admin, click "Manage snippets" in the admin menu, and edit the
"proposals index text".

You can grab the complete set of accepted proposals as a comma-separated
values (CSV) if you login as admin and click the "Export CSV" link in
the menu. Or if you need another format, just ask.

Anyway, thanks to Todd for establishing the system's requirements and
crafting the mockups. My appreciation goes out to those of you raising
awareness, raising funds, working out the myriad of details, and
volunteering as ground troops at the event. Best of luck to the
selection committee. I'm looking forward to another fine event.

I'd like to say a big thank you to Igal for putting together this very
nice proposal system. It looks good and is quite functional both for
submitters and admins. Well done!

I'll second that. Thank you, Igal, for a terrific job on the submission system! :-)
