Many of us hold dreams of doing something for a good cause. We see friends and colleagues who have gone off on a great adventure and returned excited and proud to have met their own personal challenge while fundraising for a cause they believe in. I am very excited to share the story of Ujjawal Chauhan, a student from IIT Kharagpur and an ardent volunteer at CRY who has set out to make his dream a reality - Cycling for a cause.
This summer, Ujjawal is undertaking a #Ride4ChildRights that traverses 4 states and covers 2,500 kms across India. In our efforts to ensure every child goes to school and not work, we seek your support to help us make sure all children in the 12 villages Ujjawal visits on his journey are enrolled in school. No contribution is small. Whatever the amount you may choose to contribute, it will go a long way in providing Ujjawal the much-needed encouragement. Visit Ujjawal's fundraising page, leave him an encouraging note and donate generously.
It is Ujjawal's passion for photography and belief in child rights that enthused him to take up this challenge. While riding, he plans to photo document reasons that cause or force children into labour, and capture the success stories of families that were empowered to get their children out of labour. His pictures will help further CRY's advocacy efforts to strengthen anti-child labour policies.
Ujjawal's journey is yet another testament to the power of people from all walks of life, people like you, to ensure that children of our country overcome barriers like child labour, achieve their full potential and enjoy a childhood they deserve. So come forward to support Ujjawal and CRY as together we aim to make a change in the lives of India's children.
Do also join us to welcome Ujjawal to Mumbai and cycle with him for the last leg of hs journey on 29July2014 from the Lilawati Hospital, Bandra. We flag off at 8am and ride towards CST.Our journey will take us through Bandra fire brigade, Mahim causeway, Hinduja Hospital, Shivaji park, Siddhi Vinayak temple, worli passport office, Worli dairy, Nehru Science Centre,Mahalakshmi racecourse,Jaslok hospital,3 batti,Chowpatty,Marine drive,Churchgate station,Azad Maidan. After a small event we head back to Lilawati.
With faith and goodwill,
