COMMON MAIL :

Techfest is the annual technical festival of Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, India. Over the years, since its inception in 1998, Techfest has earned the tag of Asia’s largest Science and Technology Festival much before it went global in 2009 and it was recently patronized by UNESCO in its endeavor to provide a platform for the blooming to showcase their talent in the field of technology. Techfest 2012 saw a footfall of more than 92,000 students with over 25,000 students from India and abroad participating in various events.

In addition to spreading technology, Techfest takes up a social initiative each year, to add a flavor of philanthropy. A section called Ideate came into existence with the same motto. A series of competitions inviting innovative ideas for the betterment of society is what Ideate is about. Issues like, rural development, underprivileged children, education, environment and many more are taken care of. Specific issues pertaining to such problems are floated for the nation's youth, for them to ponder upon and come forward with some solution.

'Ummeed, for a better tomorrow' is one of the competitions in Ideate that invites ideas on upliftment of under privileged children to give them a better tomorrow.India’s growing status as an economic superpower is masking a failure to stem a shocking rate of the ever increasing number of underprivileged children. The desire for quality upbringing for all children is noble and surely one shared by all. And we invite you to come forward and take a step to bring about the change. We realise that having worked so sincerely for the upliftment of children, you can come up with some revolutionary and innovative idea to change the lives of these children.

The problems statements floated this year are innovative and precise. For more details about the competitions, problem statement and registrations, please visit www.techfest.org/ummeed or mail your queries to the undersigned.

The registrations have started. And the last date for abstract submissions is in the second week of September. Please visit www.techfest.org/ummeed for more details. INR 80,000 at stake!

We would be grateful if you could also inform your friends and fellow participants regarding these competitions.

Thanks and regards
