The presentation would focus on the more recent discoveries poised to
overthrow lots of assumptions scientists have held about the brain.
It would be divided into the following parts:
-Brief overview of what is currently known and believed about the
brain, including:
+basic statistics
+basic architecture
+basic hierarchy.
-Interesting new research projects at MIT's Picower Center and
Federale Ecole Polytechnique de Lausanne, including:
+The role of 90% of the brain's matter, previously thought to
do nothing but support neurons.
+What hypnosis can teach us.
+Synethesia's secrets.
+Blue Brain molecular level neural simulation, that aims to
grow an entire brain in silico.
+Henry Markram's new explanation of Autism.
Obviously this is a lot of material to cover, but if done as an
abstract overview without the technical details, I think it can be
done.
