IGM Research Committee request

Hi Folks,

The IGM research committee is up and running, and as a first order of business, we are trying to collect a list of all equipment that you are willing to make available to other faculty members.  It would be useful if you could also include the extent of availability, any costs associated with use, and the cost of the service contract (so we can get an estimate of the amount IGM spends on these, and whether we can figure out ways to defray the cost).

The second request is to send me information on cores/facilities that you recommend, so we can compile the list as a resource.

Last year I created a Google group that any of us can post to, which goes to all the IGM faculty.  I'm copying this to the group just as a reminder to everyone - so you don't have to ask Sandy to post things to the faculty, you can do it directly.

As you may know, excess Spencer and Smith lab items are available on the 4th floor. Hopefully, your lab received the email below last week. There is more to be had - but only until Wednesday. 

Give-aways that are left Thursday morning will be put to use in support of school programs (directly, or via their sale), or discarded. 

Please be sure to take what you can use by then.

Dear fellow IGM labs,

We have lots of glassware, some small lab equipment, and some disposables available for anyone who would like to come take anything.  Items are currently located on the 4th floor in 3 places.

1) In the bay directly inside the door of Lab 432 (glassware, glassware, and more glassware; electroporator, pipet tips, and more)

2) on the tables in the service hallway in between 432 and 440 (vortexers, protein gel equipment, perfusion pump, random office and lab supplies)

3) on the black bookshelf in the service hallway outside of 420 - chemicals, pipet tips, random lab supplies

As we continue to clean and consolidate, there may be a few more items that will appear. 

I do not have an up-to-date lab manager list, so please forward this on to anyone in your labs, your PIs, or other neighboring labs.

If you have any questions about anything, please check with me  - I'll be in BRB440 or 426, or you can call me at 410-303-1840.

Items will only be out for a few days so please come by as soon as you have a chance.
