You might think that gamers have combed through every secret and available strategy in Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! (aka simply Punch-Out!!) since its original release on the NES in 1987. You'd be wrong, though. Just this weekend, word first started to spread of a previously unnoticed background Easter Egg that can help players with the split-second timing needed for some crucial knockout punches.

The three-minute video explanation from YouTuber midwesternhousewives lays out the specifics, but in short, the newly discovered secret hinges on a bearded man on the bottom row of the on-screen audience, near the left side of the screen. If you watch his face closely during the first fight with Piston Honda and the second fight with Bald Bull, this one audience member will duck slightly at the precise moment you can throw an instant, body blow knockout punch.

The Punch-Out!! makers at Nintendo have revealed and hinted at similar background Easter Eggs in the past. In a 2009 Iwata Asks interview, Nintendo developers Makoto Wada and Kensuke Tanabe discussed the game's secrets with the late Satoru Iwata.

Wada: This is a great opportunity, so I have something I'd like to say. In Punch-Out!!, the game gives you a lot of hints about effective timing of punches. There is a big boxer called Bald Bull in the NES version as well and a light flashes to the right in the audience when he charges [in his first fight]. If you punch when it flashes you will land a body blow.

He started as an Assistant Winemaker for Thomas Rivers Brown and helped produce the premium wines of Maybach Family, Outpost, Rivers-Marie, and his own label Myriad Cellars. Mike branched out on his own in 2006 and now makes wine for several premium wineries in Napa Valley. Quivet Cellars is custom crushed along side these great wines at the Tench Winery in Oakville, California.

Our newest wine In the portfolio - The Quivet Cellars Calistoga Cabernet Sauvignon is loaded with red fruit, bing cherry liquor and an unmistakable up-valley grip that is terroir driven. The deep shale benchland soils derived from hundreds of years of natural erosion make this site sing of classic Napa Valley Cabernet with powerful punch. Explosive and layered mid palate, followed by a long and wanting finish. Fantastically balanced! Lay this beauty down for a few years for all the components to come together, what a beauty.

A new addition to the Quivet line up, a reserve barrel selection from the remarkable Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard. The Quivet Shiverick Reserve is a micro cuvee' of a newly planted section of this vineyard that put forth a wine of stellar density and bolder flavor profile. Only 2 barrels exist and what a wine!

This wine immediately sings of dark fruit, signature olive tapenade and apple bacon while providing an immediate lift out the gate. Interlocking notes of white pepper and soy subtly mingle while cool-toned red/blue fruits take center stage. The mid palate is focused but has a nice core of gaminess with light notes of iron that showcase its cool climate location. Fine grained tannins layer each sip, weaving this wine all together. The finish carries long woven with strong pepper and nutmeg spice notes. Hard to put down except to re-pour! Drinking nicely in 1-5 years

Fresh, spicy with a dash of pepper, the Quivet Kenefick Ranch Whole Cluster Syrah offers gorgeous blackberry, cured meats and Asian spices upfront. While the warmer Calistoga temperatures showcase depth, richness and concentrated Syrah fruit, a nice mid palate lift from the foot treading & stem inclusion is noted throughout. Highly expressive notes of forest floor, orange zest and coffee intermingle with nicely polished tannins for a silky mouthfeel. While gorgeous now, this wine will benefit from 1-2 years of bottle age to bring out all the hidden nuances you know are there.

Just a luscious crowd pleasing Syrah. Deep purple color and boysenberry explode across the entire entry. Blue fruits galore in all spectrums. The nose is graham with slight berry pie and slight white pepper. The plush mid palate is punctuated with hints if tobacco, coffee notes with an aromatic floral lift. Round with deep, yet has plenty of cut and energy. Nicely finishes with a layered lavender, red currants and a staying power that goes on and on. Give this wine 6 months to come together - Drinking nicely now thru 2025.
