Guys we need to start making everyone in India aware of GoG. I dont
see many companies using GoG even though it is one the fastest and
better frameworks. Can we please work towards it. I am a big fan of
GoG and want everyone to be aware of this framework before making a
choice.

I think we should have a meet and try make more and more co-corporate and developer aware of this amazing technology. We can also host a website , if required. But we should start this aggressively. We cant let anyone choose other framework without being aware of Grails. Once of the most sorry things about grails is that it is not popular even tough its great.
We can make a group to start with in each cities and start discussing the same.
We have can regular weekend workshop ? free or paid.  It depends on how involved we want to be

Hi Samar,

That is a really good idea and I appreciate that. But could you please tell me how did you get to my E-mail ID.
Now coming to the point, I recently did my project in Groovy Grails and found it very easy. The matter of the fact
that no one knows much about the framework and Groovy language is quite unfortunate. I have no prior experience in
programming and I recently took my Masters in IT. Now looking forward to start off my career very soon.

Please tell me if there is any portal where I can find you and co-GoG lovers.

Regards,

I did not reach anyone's email personally. I sent it to the group. I dont think we have any portal right now. I want ppl to discuss over the group and come up with a common goal. Also i wonder y India is so behind in taking initiatives. I can see the number of users increasing in Eurpore and America but hardly any reaction from India.

Hi Samar, I appreciate your initiative on this.

We are a company based in Noida in North India by the name IntelliGrape Software; we are one of the earliest adopters of Grails & have been working on it for almost 2 years. We are totally focussed on Grails and have delivered more than 5-6 application on Grails for clients in Europe, Canada and US.

I will be very happy to contribute in any manner possible to the adoption of Grails in India. Let me know what ideas do you have.

Regards,

-Deepak

HI Deepak,
Its great you have delivered successful projects on grails. I am sure we can use your company as model to show ur experience on the frameworks. I have tried convincing a lot of people to use this framework. Its great we have people all around india responding to it. So i guess we can have an informal met at one of the messengers. We could all meet at yahoo and discuss our involvement.
I also want to start an open source initiative (may be later). I am really unhappy to see that india has no big open source initiatives. Also, we should all, apart from our daily job ,should contribute to put india in the open source map.
I would also love to know is that how many people are actually part of this group.
And everyone, please come up with ideas.

Samar,

I appreciate your views on the G2. I have the same view so i created
IGGUG.

Website is really nice idea, but who is going to write periodically ?
i once started a topic in my blog but didnt got much support so i
changed view to my personal topics.

popularizing is mainly on the group and group support. you and me cant
do that. people come free and talk about there project and there views
on this topic . most people i see are mainly relay on what they know.

if you have some people who can writer periodically we can start a
website. may be in a free site too. creating groups etc.. depends or
who is going to contribute in that.

Raj,
lets not worry about past failure. More over we need to reach more people. I will float mails to the grails developer mailing list .About the website , lets think about the website more deep. If we have around 30 ppl we can do wonders. I not trying to create another blog or user group site.
we could think about a new site concept and come up. We would develop it in grails and also for a social cause. We show them how grails is powerful by using the power of grails. also we will reach other groups or sites to get more people. dont worry .lets do things in a more planned way and i am sure we will get success.

Thats right Raj, Develop a site using Grails and pull users to it by floating mails to show them The Power of Grails. The site should be powerful enough to self motivate the folks out there to come up with their views and ideas. It should consist Ajax functionalities and the things that can be done using plugins. That is what I think should be done.
But again, lots of questions as to who'll sponsor for the site and who'll develop it are yet to be answered.

dont worry about sponsors about the site, If no one does we will do it ourselves, I know how much it takes to host a website, and if you guys dont i will. I just want all of us to sit together with the cause. whats the most toughest part is developing. lets discuss on those activities. Also I am very disappointed that only 4 ppl have replied. please brainstorm on the ideas and we can start our development from 15th of august
