Hi Everybody,

Here is an outline of our activities. Also see our website in development, www.igfremote.com.

Please let us know how we can improve interaction and gather more information on how to better coordinate resources with the Secretariat, the host, and other IGF remote initiatives.

We look forward to your comments, feedback and suggestions.

Saludos,

Ginger

  • Web page www.igfremote.com for coordination and information
  • Platform for interaction before, during and after the meeting
  • Platform continuation for smooth transition from post 2008 to pre-2009

Platform should include:

-          Research capacity available for Hypertext comment annotation for proposed documents (Rafik/Diplo)

-          Wikis (Rafik)

-          Online fora (Rafik/Max)

  • Essential elements during the IGF meeting: (Rafik, Max, Rajesh)

-          Open channel for discussions (fora) including theme-specific and moderated help forum for newcomers to the IGF (Rafik/Max)

-          Open channel social media such as Twitter or Facebook to foster awareness and contributions around the IGF process.  (Rafik/Max)

  • Research whether the need for this interaction exists, by publishing a survey of parallel meetings and workshops and a call for responses on the mailing lists: Which meetings and workshops want to include this possibility? Prepare information and interaction so this can be facilitated for interested groups.
  • Research technical possibilities to ensure it can be covered. Discuss the possible need  for one additional server and two operators per meeting webcasted, as suggested by Rafik and the Italian team. Check with Rajesh.
  • Research input possibilities (fora) for remote questions and comments, probably through email fora and chat

Activity 4: Participation in meetings in Second Life (Ginger)

  • Develop SL attendance to specific meeting sessions that are appropriate for this tool (Diplo donation of facilities, Linden Labs collaboration)
  • Research which workshops or sessions should be included
  • Publicize this possibility to include new, unconventional IGF participants
