Dear colleagues,
The MAG WG Strategy has sent in a draft version of its advise to the MAG where it will be discussed in the MAG meeting this week.
As member of the working group I have added a few lines on intersessional work and how it can be better integrated into the IGF programme, its outcomes and reporting. The text shows how DCs can assist with this better integration, along the lines like we have discussed last year. All comments were accepted by the penholder. You find a few of the relevant lines and additions here.
"Integrating IGF intersessional output into high-level sessions, parliamentary tracks, etc. and main sessions where appropriate to the topic and present them in all IGF organised workshops, interactions, etc., to showcase these outcomes....
Strengthening them requires:
- better coordination across Policy Networks, Best Practice Forums and Dynamic Coalitions;
- the development of standardized templates for Best Practice Forums, Dynamic Coalitions and Policy Networks, to improve the comparability, clarity and uptake of intersessional outputs;
- coordination between the MAG and IGF secretariat and the Dynamic Coalitions in order to ensure the,clearer integration of intersessional outputs into the annual IGF programme";
The italics are my contribution. The other two show what others have been advising. A more generic line on cooperation was accepted elsewhere in the document as well.
I have not made it explicit that we propose having two DC members as advisors to the MAG and IGF secretariat. As you can see the phrasing of a better coordination makes that a distinct option.
This document will allow us to set the next step in our proposal to cooperate and coordinate better to ensure our outcomes become a part of the IGF programme and outputs. Something to discuss in our meeting next week.
Best,
Wout
