Dear Partner2Connect Working Group Members,

The Partner2Connect Secretariat salutes you and wishes you a very enjoyable August.

As highlighted in our last Newsletter, the first-ever ITU P2C Digital Development Roundtable held in June in Kigali at the World Telecommunication Development Conference 2022 (WTDC-22) was not only a significant milestone for P2C, but also for the global connectivity agenda. On this UN’s “first pledging event on connectivity”, over 150 speakers across 10 panels announced their commitments, resulting so far in over 420 pledges valued at USD 26 billion. We encourage you all to visit our pledges dashboard, for a real time visualization of each pledge, as well as further details.

We want to thank all of you who made a pledge for your leadership and commitment to our common goal of a meaningfully connected planet. At the same time, we want to encourage those of you who have not yet pledged to do so by submitting your commitment(s) via our online pledging platform.

At the WTDC-22, a clear mandate for the ITU’s Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT) to continue working on P2C was provided through a new resolution to implement and scale pledges, mobilize new resources/partnerships, and to monitor and track the implementation status of the pledges.

Empowered by this Resolution adopted in Kigali, the Partner2Connect Digital Coalition is now moving into a new phase. Although we will still be focusing on getting more pledges, and on monitoring and reporting progress on implementation, we also plan to work with a selection of partner countries to facilitate the implementation of the P2C Action Framework, its guiding principles, and the P2C pledges to accelerate digital transformation at the national level. More news on this to follow shortly.

As we embark on this new phase and we officially wrap up the work of our Working Groups, it is time now to formally thank you for the dedication and support you provided us to get the Coalition started and for all the work invested in the development of the Focus Areas Action Framework. Your participation in the Coalition has been invaluable to us. You and your organization are and will always be part of the P2C community!

We invite you to keep in touch, to make more pledges and to follow P2C’s activities by checking our website for updates, our social media channels, or by emailing us at partner...@itu.int.

Sincerely,
The Partner2Connect Secretariat
