Dear DCs
It has troubled me a long while that there is no clearly established international professional organization for IT peoples. Each country may have its bodies and IEEE organizes internationally.
However, for ethics seen as the core feature of professional bodies, there is limited development. Main professions of law, medicine and accounting have rigorous required training on Ethics and CPAs in Canada are required to take ethics courses regularly post certification.
It is important to refresh on ethics and emerging risk issues for IT persons.
DDHT has a new policy group on Ethics focusing on the intersection of the professions for ethics. Please join us this year for conversations.
Our next session on Quantum will also consider ethics and the digital divide. April 13, 10 am pst... please save the date.
How can we make ethics professional development a requirement for application developers and managers?
I worry for the quick win approach for IT budget management. We are starting to see odd outcomes from systems...let alone hallucinations...
