IGF Leadership Panel Report 2025

 

The IGF Leadership Panel has published its 2025 report, offering a forward-looking assessment of how Internet governance is evolving amid rapid technological change.

 

The report reflects on emerging challenges, from AI and digital fragmentation to trust, inclusion, and sustainability, and examines how the IGF can continue to serve as a trusted, multistakeholder platform in this shifting landscape.

Call for Nominations for the 2026 IGF Multistakeholder Advisory Group

 

 

The Internet Governance Forum’s Multistakeholder Advisory Group (MAG) plays a vital role in shaping the programme of the annual IGF meetings and ensuring the Forum remains inclusive, relevant, and impactful. We extend our sincere appreciation to all past and present MAG members for their dedication, expertise, and invaluable guidance in supporting the IGF’s work over the years.

On behalf of the UN Secretary-General, the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) invites all stakeholder and regional groups to submit nominations to renew the MAG for 2026. Learn more about the MAG’s selection and operating principles and submit nominations HERE.

 

IGF Website Revamp Survey

As part of our ongoing efforts to improve the IGF website, we would like to invite the IGF community to give feedback. Your feedback will be essential as we work to make the IGF website more attractive, useful, accessible, powerful, and user-friendly. Access and give your input HERE.

 

Internet Society Foundation Opens Funding Applications for IGF

United Nations IGF Secretariat-recognized National, Regional, or Youth IGF Initiative (NRI), or a National or Regional School on Internet Governance (SIG) can now submit their applications for funding in 2026 to the ISOC Foundation.

This funding supports initiatives that strengthen inclusive, multistakeholder engagement in Internet governance and digital policy processes at the local, regional, and global levels. Learn more and submit you application HERE.

 

NetMission.Asia: Understanding the Internet Governance Ecosystem

 

Last week, the IGF Secretariat took part in the first session of the NetMission.Asia Academy, discussing the Internet Governance Ecosystem with a network of passionate young participants from the Asian region. The IGF Secretariat and other speakers provided insights on RIR’s, IETF, ICANN, IGF, NRIs, and Youth initiatives to inspire engagement.

🌍 Intersessional Work, National & Regional Initiatives (NRIs), and Capacity Development

 

Youth IGF Coordinators Kick-Off 2026

On Monday, 19 January, IGF Youth Coordinators will meet online to kick off the 2026 work cycle. The session will bring together both new and existing community members, providing an opportunity to connect, exchange perspectives, and set shared priorities for the year ahead. Discussions will focus on shaping the theme and format of the 2026 Youth Track, as well as identifying practical ways to strengthen youth participation across regions and increase engagement in IGF activities throughout the year.

 

NRIs Meeting Kick-Off 2026

The NRIs Kick-Off Meeting on Monday, January 19 for 2026 will focus on the implications of the WSIS+20 Resolution for National and Regional IGF Initiatives. Participants will discuss how NRIs can collectively support the implementation of the resolution and align their activities accordingly. The meeting will also serve as a starting point for developing NRIs’ 2026 workplans, fostering coordination and collaboration across the global IGF network.

The WSIS+20 Side Events Summary Report is now available, capturing key discussions, insights, and takeaways from side events held during the WSIS+20 High-Level Meeting. The report provides an overview of emerging themes, priorities, and contributions from across the multistakeholder community.
